Just got my new BCM 16" midlength lightweight upper in the mail. After all the other AR threads recently, I decided to post what may be a faulty feed ramp install, though I'm no expert. It appears the receiver ramps are very proud/protruding greatly over the barrel ramps. Due to the direction of feeding, it likely wont be an issue, but its still not a "pretty" install for a premium upper. There is also quite a burr on the left ramp, whereas the right ramp is a little off. With all the flak PSA has been getting lately, it appears that even the top tier builder can drop the ball a little when things get busy. I am going reserve my judgement until after firing, if it functions correctly, then I'll keep it. If it doesnt, then back it goes. So, what do you think?

Looks fine to me also. Malfunctions happen when the barrel feedramps stick out farther than the receiver ramps, which can allow a bullet to get hung up at the cliff between them.

From the photos I can't tell if this is a good fit or just OK, but it's at least OK.

Looks like every company puts out some questionable work, even the top tier companies. Definitely not as I'd want to see it, but how does it function? I'm sure if it has any issues bcm will stand behind their product.

I just hand cycled it a few times with live rounds and aside from scarring the bullet/brass pretty deeply, it seems to feed smoothly. I wont know until tomorrow when I can slap on a well tested lower and blast a few rounds.

It should work fine but those ramps on the lower are not correctly. I'm saying the lower since the barrel extension is normally correct. Yours are not what I would expect from a "top shelve" manufacturer.
You don't need the M4 ramps for a semi auto.

I just fired off 60 rds of the lowest quality ammo I could find (steel Tula 55gr and some reman factory seconds 55gr brass) and it functioned correctly. So I will keep it, let this be a reminder to folks who bash the "lesser" companies... Even the big boys like BCM, Colt, etc can drop the ball in terms of fit/finish. I cannot tell a difference firing this BCM or my PSA AR. Both look and feel the same, function the same and the fit/finish is actually better on the PSA:what: (smooth blended M4 ramps, perfect finish, whereas the BCM has a few "beauty" marks straight from the box along with the homely feed ramps). Just my humble, personal experience.

As a side note: Ranier Arms XTC muzzle brake/flash hider is holy bat*****e crazy loud!!! Gave me a headache through my 33nr earplugs after 60 shots.
