I just bought a "hand picked" CZ 82 looks as though it has never been fired and came with factory manual, extra clip, leather holster and clip case. What a beauty. How many rounds of ammo would it take to break this in? I would like to break it in and then put it in my safe and continue to plink with my other CZ 82... Cost was $209

Local gun store

My local gun store bought it from a dealer in south Indiana or Ohio If you google CZ 82 and look for a dealer in these parts; order a hand-picked one. My connection is American Guns and Ammo 480-832-0024

Gun Kote

Yes I took my old one, stripped off the paint with paint stripper from Home Depot, then degreased it with whatever you choose painted it and baked it on 300 degrees for 1.5 hours and it too looks brand new. I did buy new black plastic grips at CZ USA (they are currently out but will have them in 45 days $17 a pair) and bingo, you have a great looking gun that shoots straight and is tough as nails. Remember these commies built the AK 47; thier surplus is good stuff.

I consider most CZ-82 already "broken in" and reliable as-is.

The CZ82 is one of the most reliable handguns on earth. If it works right through a box of ammo it will probably work right for the next 50 boxes.

They are the best buy on the market today. Enjoy yours. You got $400 in features for a mere $209. And, it is reliable and accurate to boot.

If I had to cull myself down to 10 guns the CZ82 would make the cut.

Actually, "those commies' built the Vz58, which is head and shoulders above the AK-47 and it's subsequent models.

The Czechs just flat out make good guns.

How many rounds can you put through the barrell of the CZ 82 before they wear down?

I put (or rather my friend did after I let him try it) 100 round through my new CZ82 today. First day out, just a light cleaning beforehand and that little beast just ate through that ammo. The most pleasant handgun I've ever shot.

Grons, with the CZ82 having a chrome-lined barrel with polygonal rifling, you would have to set out with plenty of time, ammunition and intention to wear the barrel to the point of failure (to stabilized a bullet).

I'm convinced you'd still have a perfectly functioning barrel after 10K of mil-surp or commercial 9x18 and strongly suspect long afterwards as well.

IMO, the life of the barrel is something you don't need to worry yourself over; it will likely outlast you.

Are you sure it is chrome lined? Is there any reference from Česká Zbrojovka to that effect...on a web site, manual, advertisement, etc.?

I've got two.Stripped the slide on one and blued it,added new grips and a fiber optic front sight. The other I left as is.Both have functioned flawlessly and are great fun to shoot.

Where did you get the sights?

where did you buy the fiber front sight and what are the demensions? I went to CZ Custom and they have several front fiber sights all are about $35. Does that front sight make much difference?

Thanks Rockwell, I own two CZ's and passed on the Llama. I am keeping them and the .357 I am considering the fiber front sites for the CZ 82 and I think I can get them at CZ Custom here in Phoenix for $35

I got the FO front sight from Brownells. It's for a CZ-75.Took a little filing to fit.It helps these 56 yr old eyes see the front sight better.
