Brass catchers for handguns

I had one for my Uzi. Sorta works, but caused "stovepipe" type jams too often for my tastes. I think they'd be even more problematic on a handgun -- where would you mount it?
I guess you could try a butterfly net mounted on a tripod
At our club, you can pick up 9mm and .40S&W brass off the ground all the time, you'd be sure to come home with more brass than you shot Unless you are using some special brand of brass, it'd be more trouble than its worth IMHO to worry about losing a few.
If you've a .357 SIG then its more of an issue, but loading handgun volumes of a cartridge that needs rifle reloading methods is such a PITA that most handloaders end up with a .40 S&W barrel they can swap in.

I have a ''device'' - don't ask me source or make etc!
It is simple and if set up right it works. A cloth baggie thing is attached to a wire frame - - the wire is extended to fit into a velcro wrist band. You ''wear'' this on strong hand/wrist and - cos wire is malleable stuff - bend it such that baggie is in right place to catch the brass. if set up well - it is not in the way of shooting but will catch the brass. Crude let's say - but effective.

Check out the Ultimate Brass Catcher at www.cm-machine.bigstep.com for a really fine setup. It is a little pricey but works great. I finally quit procrastinating and bought one. Have not regretted it.

I have the one from Sportsmans Guide
I have the one from Sportsmans Guide and it works well, catches 98% of the brass. It's made of lightweight plastic, a velcro strap, and a nylon mesh bag. Mostly got it to keep from throwing brass at the adjacent bench at my local range. Need to empty it after one or two mags, or it gets noticable from the weight of the brass. After a while you'll lose the plastic clips that retain the bag to the handle, just tie it on with monofilament fishing line.

i never saw brass catchers that mount to the gun. . . .i thought they were tall net like things that stand next to you and funnel the brass into a bucket.

rcm - the main times I have used a catcher (the simple thing I mentioned - baggie on wire frame - velcro round wrist) - are when I want to keep cases (instance .223 reloads out of Mini) - also, a way to avoid time wasting clearing up at end of session - and on occasions, kindness to the guy on the right!!

Now granted I have used a shell catcher on SX1's, Beretta 303's, 1100s...but dem were when I was shooting trap and this here skeeter didn't want to ...umm had to show I had couth and respectful about bruising their Bob Allen's and such...
A $5 tarp from the Feed and Seed works just fine. Let 'em rip. Take a kid(s) and for the Price of the Dairy Queen stop - they sort all the brass...even all the .22 lr stuff.
Funny...never had that concern with a revolver...Speed loaders are even easy to find when doing reload drills...

brass catcher?? brass catcher???? sheesh, if i had a brass catcher i'd have nothing to do during cease fires.
we used them prairie dogging last year with the AR. Ours was a beach umbrella and a big ole tarp , hint find a COTTON not Nylon umbrella and tarp, from the rifle the brass hits the finely adjusted umbrella and then lands on the tarp and is easily dumped back into the five gallon buck brought for such a reason.
I have seen modifications of such at high power events where the boys hate to loose their carefully prepped match cases.
