Here's what I would do.

1. Pour them all together.
2. Grab and load.

You're not shooting long distance rifle competition. No need to sort by headstamp.
Unless of course you just want to. In that case, knock yourself out.

What Arkansas Paul said. Just load them. Unless you're shooting 50 yard bullseye competition, you won't notice any difference at all on target.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys... that's kinda what I thought.
I will be shooting in a very informal 10-15 yrd "competition" (friends and family), and I need all the help I can get! LOL

^ You'll not notice a difference at those distances.
If you were a benchrest shooter I could see it.
When I first started loading I sorted then after a while I decided to see if it did any good. I would intentionally load 3 rounds with 3 different headstamps and go shoot a group. I couldn't even tell any difference with a rifle at 100 yds. Although that may be more of a testament to my shooting ability than the issue at hand. :)

Your competition sounds fun. The original point and click device with lots of interface time! :D

Hard to beat for an afternoon!

The ONLY reason I sort by head stamp is that some brands "feel" different when sizing. I can't tell any difference in accuracy.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your quick and knowledgeable replies!..

Hardtarget,
It's a LOT of fun.. We call it "Plinkfest", held at our cabin. 5 stages of rimfire rifle 25 and 70 yrds (iron sights only) and 2 stages of centerfire handgun. This'll be the 8th year!

Each manufacture may have slight differences in the brass. But for your 10-15yd shooting. I would say just load them and have fun. I sort my brass and shoot by head stamp, so I have better control of the fireings each shell has.

The only issue I have had with mixing different brands is the length of the brass can vary more than I like. And the problem with that is the crimp will be light on the short ones and heavy on the long ones. I do not have a case trimmer yet. Most people say they do not trim revolver brass.

Winchester or PMC in my experience. Never Remington. The best brands I have used (a lot) are Federal and Starline.

Plus uno. It does make the actual ammo building seem and feel more consistent IMO. Dont know if it matters...

Also, I like to sort, gives me somethin to do while "watching" my wife's crappy shows with her. (the Bachelor, among others)

I load and shoot approximately 8,000 to 10,000 rounds of .38 Special per year for use in matches and practice. I mix them all, with the exception of A-Merc, which gets scrapped out. There is nothing wrong with Remington brass. It's slightly thinner in some cases, but not always.

Just load and shoot.

Hope this helps.
