I've had an RIA 5 " Govt model for a couple years that I bought new. All parts are factory stock . From the start, with WWB 230 ball, it threw empties 8- 15 feet or a smidgen more occaisionally. I'd say 12' average . I now reload a 230 FMJ over 5.8 grs. of Unique ( about 800 fps ) and ejection distance is that same 8-15 + feet, 12 ' ave . My RIA has had probably 500 -750 rounds through it since new now. Racking the slide with the hammer down takes a reasonable amount of effort, which seems " normal " . In this regard, the recoil spring does not seem " wimpy ". The pistol works flawlessly in every manner . It is very reliable. I use a very solid 2 hand, push / pull grip when firing, but really, I do not know if this promotes further brass ejection distance or not. Does this distance sound normal and like the patterns yours show with 230 ball loads ? Thanks.
