Are they legal? What are the best kind to get? Are they good self defence weapons if you dont want to kill anybody? Just a few of the questions I have.

Are they legal?

Depends upon your jurisdiction. Some places, yes. Most places, no.
What are the best kind to get?

It's not like these things come in brands like S&W or Glock. Still, any actually made out of brass should be able to take some abuse.

You can still kill with them if you don't know what to stay away from.

Research your own state laws; don't let someone on the internet tell you something is legal or not--cause the cop who cuffs and books you isn't going to care where you got your bad information.

As my name implies I am a Paramedic which means I get left to clean up the losers and sometime winners of incidents (whether justified or not). From official experience I would say that bass knuckles are one of the poorest choice of weapons. For the most part they are not a devastating weapon; However, once you use them you better be in a fight for your life. This is due to the fact that they are considered a deadly weapon because they have some potential to cause death. They are also not very politically correct. My advise carry a pocket knife from Benchmade, Spyderco, or other quality manufactures and hope to God you never have to use it for anything but opening mail. Or better yet get your CHL and a Glock.

I've heard that with a lot of the poorly designed "paperweights," it's quite possible to break your own fingers trying to punch with them.

How about some one telling me where they are legal. I know there must be places, but I can't think of any. And as stated, they are considered a deadly weapon. Also, from the street, if you use a pair of brass knuckles, make sure you win, because if not, the other guy will stomp you into the ground for using them. Just a note. My opinion, worth what your paying for it. :what:
