I have cleaned new rifles close to this manner but not exactly. Anyway here is a link to the Savage breaking in procedure that Im thinking about following on my next rifle...
http://www.savagearms.com/cs_barrel.htm
I have a combination cleaner in a single bottle for both powder and copper solvent so thats alright.
(1) When they tell about using a brush are they talking about a metal brush ?
(2) Am I suppose to push this brush both ways down the barrel front to back ?
I have

1) Yes, they're speaking of a bronze bore brush. Avoid stainless steel bore brushes like the plague for rifled bores.

2) Yes; "Push a brush through the bore (5 times in each direction)"

Thanks nicholst55. I thought I remember reading somewhere that it is important to either push or pull the brush starting from the action toward the muzzle end only and not to push/pull brush starting from muzzle end toward action.
