In my email this afternoon. Most of you will probably receive it so I am posting it for the one's not on their mail list.

Breaking news on the Senate amnesty bill----

House leadership just announced that they will not succumb
to pressure from the Senate to fast-track the amnesty bill.

Instead House Speaker Hastert says the House will
conduct "field hearings" on the amnesty bill. Hastert said,

"I'm not putting any timeline on this thing, but I think we
need this thing done right."

This is great news. House leaders are saying that we
must secure the borders first and are resisting the Senate
rush to amnesty.

What do they need hearings for? The senate bill is outright unconstitutional. Any revenue generating bills must originate in the House, not the Senate. Nevermind any other issues with illegal invaders, identity theft, tax fraud, social security fraud, etc...
 
The purpose behind field hearings is to expose the senate to the level of outrage out in the sticks. The senate is clearly marching to a different drummer than the house. It is political theatre at its finest. The senate wants a bill; the house feels no such pressure.

It is all an attempt to get the senate's mind right.
 
This is what happens when you stop the Senate from representing the states. Yeah right, because they are Democratically elected, they represent the people every bit as much as the House.

Seriously folks, this is the way it's supposed to be. The House is now representing the will of the People. I love it. The people ain't sure 'bout that amnesty. The House is putting out feelers to test how they should vote.
 
If this passes, and illegals are given amnesty for social security fraud and tax fraud...

...then someone needs to take it all the way to the Supreme Court that charging American citizens with social security fraud or tax fraud is unconstitutional, or perhaps that income tax is unconstitutional. :D

If they want to play hardball in favor of the illegals, then throw a fast, hard pitch at them.

The House is doing this because "they" are all up for reelection this fall and being closer to the people at home than our Princes,--the Senators,the Reps know how we fell about this and how we'll vote in the election. On the other hand they could just wait on this until after the elections and through the country away anyway.:rolleyes:

When is the last time that mattered to The Powers That Be?


Probably around the last time you heard anyone say "go ahead, its a free country".

I'd like to believe that they are doing it out of an attempt to serve the people, but I think the upcoming elections have more to do with it .

My opinion is still the same : They have been allowed to come here illegaly to provide cheap labor for business, business provides the funds for elections, those elected provide for the business's that provide the funds. (and that includes congress critters)

There will be a delay in passing any significant legislation until after the fall elections. What passes at the end will be amnesty and an increaseed ability for legal entry . They'll make a big deal about how their legislation will make the boarder secure , but all that means is billions in new spending with results akin to the war on drugs. They have no intention of sending 12 to 20 million illegals back to their home country.

It's not a stronger fence that is needed - it is less milk and honey waiting for them on this side of it that will make the difference. You don't have to round up illegals to send them home, you just need to remove their benifits received from being here , and they will find their own way home.
 
Congress will play its games. The realities of national division, bill or no bill, are not going away and will only build toward '08. The core of the American people are fed up with promiscuous illegal immigration and if Congress and the President won't stop it, the people will. I think the validity of representative government and the rule of law are really what's at stake here.

Debating amnesty while the borders are not secure
means nothing will get done about either issue and
we will be stuck with this insane status quo.

I am so disappointed. I thought this thread was about
amnesty for WWII and Korean war trophy NFA items.
 
No one should ever forget in this fight that we've ALREADY done one amnesty. We were told "there's 4 million illegals in the country, we can't deport them all. We'll give the ones here amnesty and crack down on illegal immigration so we won't have the problem again..." That was 20 years ago, now we've got 20 million illegals and they're pulling the same BS again betting we won't remember, and most don't.
 
The real game will be played in '07 and '08. Can we stop the insanity in a non-election year? Will Congress continue to play deaf? Are they really going to ream us in the off-year and dare us to respond?
 
New Laws

Why do they need to have hearings? Why do we need new laws? Why is Congress wasting all the time on this issue?
Enforce existing laws now! Nothing else needs to be done. Control the Border and enforce the laws about employers,soon the problem will solve itself.

While one can argue about which is the cart and which is the horse, I don't see much of a seperate issue here.

It depends on how one thinks the best way to secure the boarder is ,and what steps to take in order to do so. My opinion is that the most significant step is not a big fence, or a lot of guards, but the removal of the incentives to cross illegaly.
Remove the benifits and you remove the incentive. The benifits are jobs, free social services, and anmnesty . With no benifits to collect you won't have to deport anybody - they will go home on their own and set an example for their fellow countryman to stay home and make their lives better there.
 
Considering a work program BEFORE the border is secured makes as much sense as pumping the water out of New Orleans before the levees were repaired. New Orleans didn't need a "comprehensive solution". New Orleans needed imposition of common sense.

The only reason Bush and our esteemed senators demand a comprehensive solution is because they insist on slipping in provisions which they know good and well Joe and Martha Sixpack will refuse if they saw proposed. Fortunately, for the time being, good ol' fashioned 'Murican horse sense dominates.
 
liquidate the property of the employers,use the money to send the illegals home. crush the system as thourghly as chattel slavery so it cannot arise. if this does'nt work,apply some of ruth bader-ginsberg foreign court ruling logic such as making financial crimes capital offences as in china. maybe then they would catch on.
 
The incentive to come here illegally are the employers
who hire illegals--the employers who want illegals, and
then stick the rest of us with the cost of medical
and social services cinsumed by illegals.

Pehaps if more illegal employers were rounded up,
we would not have so many illegal immigrants
coming here. These illegal employers are the new
slave masters. This is bad for everyone: native
citizens, legal immigrants and the illegals themselves.

"Done right"? We need this thing canned - permanently.

"Securing the borders first" is not going to change it into anything other than what it is.
