This is an email I received from Citizens of America with some numbers to call and thing to to say, to lobby against the new gun ban bill.

News item on Republican House speaker Denny Hastert,
Monday the 19th:

--------------
Hastert remained non-committal regarding whether or
not he would
support a renewal of the ban on normal-capacity
magazines and certain
semi-automatic rifles.

"I need to have some discussions with the president
and leadership before
I make that decision," he said Thursday. "I am
reserving my personal
opinion."
--------------

THANKS, Denny –– GUN OWNERS put Bush and a lot of
other
Republicans in office, and this is how we get repaid.

Make you mad? You CAN do something about it. READ ON

PHONE CALLS are a very important means for politicians
to keep their
finger on our pulse. They figure if you’ll take a few
minutes and spend a
couple of bucks for long-distance calls you’re SERIOUS
about your
message.

No, there’s no way to measure the influence of calls,
but Congressmen
continually tell us this is how they know what issues
to support or not to
support.

We tend to believe them. Remember, their goal is NOT
to protect the
Constitution (except perhaps Ron Paul of Texas) but to
get RE-
ELECTED. Listening to their most active and vocal
constituents is how
they do it.

HERE YOU GO -- JUST DO IT! YOU’LL LIKE YOURSELF
BETTER AFTERWARD.

START WITH
Speaker of the House, Republican Dennis Hastert —
(202) 225-2976

THEN CALL
House Majority Leader, Republican Tom DeLay —
202-225-5951

THEN CALL
Senate Majority Leader, Republican Bill Frist — (202)
224-3344

THEN CALL
The White House — (202) 456-1111
HESITATING? HERE’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CALL:

They say “Hello, Rep X’s office.â€

Tell them you want to leave a comment.

They’ll say “Sure, go ahead.â€

Just something like “If the Clinton gun and magazine
ban is renewed, I
will not support/vote for (Bush, Republican Party,
etc).†No need to get
emotional or speak volumes.

The phone handler on the other end will mark your
comment on their
issues list and say “Thank you,†and you’re done.

It’s easy.

DO IT SO YOUR KIDS CAN ENJOY THE RIGHTS YOU DID.

THANKS FOR TAKING ON A SHARE OF THIS WORK.

Please print the phone numbers and keep the list with you. Next time you have five minutes to waste, call them up.

I just did.

The White House keeps banker's hours, but all the congresscritters have staffs there past 5PM to take and forward calls.

The TOLL FREE phone number for CAPIT0L SWITCHBOARD is as follows. 1-800-648-3516. Sometimes you get a "circuits are busy signal". Hang up and try again. The ladies at the board will put you through to whichever congressional/senate offices you might want to speak with.

Anyone who is to dumb or to lazy to make TOLL FREE CALLS does deserves neither freedoms not rights.

Make sure to call a half hour before quitting time to the White House, else they're giving you the bum's rush so they can be walking out at 10 'til.

I feel soooooooooooooooo much better about my tax dollars at work now.

They probably circular filed my comments rather than take the time to do anything with them. I'll try again Tues. to see if the operators are all this useless.

CZ-75, and others:

Remember that before anythinhg gets to the president for whatevber action he might take, is has to pass both houses.

Depending on who your particular congress critters are, that might be the best way to go, especially since they too want to be re-elected.

Remember, the TOLL FREE number for CAPITOL SWITCHBOARD is 1-800-648-3516. Sometimes it gets busy, don't give up, try again.

By the way, look out for H.R. 2038, it is very bad news, same with S. 22 re firearms and gun show sections.

All are available at www.thomas.loc.gov

Remember that before anythinhg gets to the president for whatevber action he might take, is has to pass both houses.

I learned that in 4th or 5th grade (actually earlier, thanks to "Schoolhouse Rock."). ;)

President is the effective leader of the Majority party, so I think he has a say in legislation de facto.

I haven't talked to my congresscritters, but even demos around here know that they have to support RKBA. I'll call them anyway, lest they forget.
