I got a good deal--no, a GREAT deal--on a beat-up Brit P-14 in (what else?) .303. $150 out the door!

This is a great addition to my collection of US M-1917s. I've got five M-1917's in "as issued" shape, plus one that was sporterized with some after-market barrel that has a 1903-like front sight, but the rear sight was left intact. I can't understand why everyone wants to grind the rear sights down. They'll always work, even for your great, great grand kids!

Rather than the "standard" stock I see in all the references, my "new" P-14 seems to have the earlier stock, with an oval plate with elevation markings on the side, apparently for indirect volley fire. Too bad, all the other parts of the indirect sighting system are missing.

However, it still does have the correct aperture sights with their protective ears, which is one of the things I just love about the P-14/M-1917, and it's obvious that everything that's still on it is original.

No real questions for the chorus. Just bragging.
