It is true that 'The Sun' is a rubbish red-top newspaper, full of crap. However, the article in question is true, many companies and local town councils have tried this in the past few years.

Yeah, but you have those page 3 girls.....;)

This story just goes to show how so many in the West have gone spineless.:banghead:

God help save us from the ninnies. Keep your ammo dry lads....

National pride,(The costly development of the SA80.)but the MOD police and the London Metropolitan police-use H&K G36 assault-rifles,though.

Yeah, I suppose. I just wish that they could have bought G36's instead of getting Heckler & Koch to modify the SA80. I used the L86A1 LSW a couple times when I was in the Army Cadets and it's a nice accurate firearm, but it's not as nice as the shiny new G36 and it's variants. :D

Next it'll be no more bangers and mash because the name is too violent. Bad enough they changed the designation of the elementary school classrooms so that the kids in 1b wouldn't feel inferior next to those in 1a. *eyeroll*

Try reading the The Daily Sport-it is much better in terms of page 3 girls-than The Sun newspaper;) ;) Especially Kelly Bell.Plus the articles are somewhat trashier than the worst articles-in the Sun Newspaper-in terms of views and especially the middle-section content.Makes some of us laugh-after a hard days work.

Lots of guys in the Navy, have pin-ups of them-inside of their living quarters-onboard ships, submarines and shore-bases.

Interestingly, the British Army units that appeared on Sky tv-in movie,"Shaun of the Dead",were all armed with G36 assault-rifles-and they also made a brief appearence at the end of this movie-when they saved Shaun and Liz,from being bitten and finally eaten-by the large crowds of zombies.

No sign of the SA80 anywhere, not even one soilder was armed with any type of SA80 weapon-at all.

Considering the fact, that the G36,isn't an official service-weapon of the British Army,Navy or Airforce-why arm the soilders with those rifles, when the SA80 hasn't retired-yet???

When it comes to Hollywood, I guess it could be a for couple of reasons, one being that SA80's are fugly (Less photogenic) compared to the H&K G36.
Another could be down to the popularity of the G36 in films in the last few years. They are in 'V for Vendetta' as well as 'Mission: Impossible III' and I think in one of the 'Resident Evil' films. It is just a cool rifle.

You'd be amazed how many US corporations have the same policy on an informal level.

Then you'd be really amazed at...

The Courtesy of the Flag.

My Dad, now retired, was posted in the far east as the representative for [conAmalgamatedHugeCo]. His HQ was hosted by [redacted] in Nagoya, Japan. He routinely made runs to his satelite offices in Seol, South Korea, and Chengdu, China.

EVERYWHERE he went, including his residence, we were rendered the courtesy of our own flag, on a secondary staff. Even some of the Chinese companies he'd deal with would run up Old Glory when dad was present. @ his HQ, there was this one semi-retired guy whose job it was to see dad, or any of his colleagues driving into the parking lot, and make sure the stars and stripes were up before he made it to the door. When the last American left for the day, his job was to strike the colors. At his residence, we tried to cut the gatekeeper a break. We told him the flag wasn't necessary, but he would hear none of it. Noting that the flag staff was properly lighted, we then suggested that it wasn't necessary to run it up every morning, and down every night, a proposition he happily accepted.

Hey I thought the Guardian was a tabloid. It reads like one.

There is but one suitable reply to this sort of garbage, and it normally involves fixing a bayonet!

It reminds me of a certain lunatic member of the New South Wales Upper House a few years ago who tried to get up a "private members bill" banning all war trophies. After the First World War the Australian War Trophies Comission brought back hundreds of field guns, machine guns etc. These were mostly placed on war memorials in country towns based on a sliding sort of scale regarding enlistments from the areas. If 25 men from a district had enlisted, the town might get a maxim gun to place on it's memorial, 50 got you a 75mm and so forth. This idiot pollie believed these trophies were symbols of a militaristic society and wanted them all rounded up and melted down.

I now of one small NSW town where the President of the Local RSL (similar to the American Legion) told his local MP, "If you'd care to check the records of the Trophies Commission, you'll discover we this town didn't get two Maxim guns, we got three, you bastards touch the two out front of the RSL and you'll soon find out all about the third one."

Forunately, this idiots private members bill went no-where.

Why are these islamofascists still breathing. The only way this will end is all out war. They won't stop. . The middle east should wake up one morning and see American and British Flags coming Down on heads of our nukes.
I don't want to hear the story its only a few. Bull !! Its all of them ,the others don't want to help clean up their religon so their just as guilty. The only thing they understand is force. They belive if we don't convert we should die. So lets let them die for the God. Their is no talking to them.

After a few more bombings, I suppose they'll learn that compliance doesn't work. That complying with the demands of this sort works about as well as passengers on an airliner complying with their demands.

Or maybe they won't learn. Who knows.

I still think the best message would be to actually find bin Laden and show video of what's left of him being dragged down a street with feral dogs biting at him (one of the worst insults possible in Islam), but hey, he'll die eventually of natural causes, I guess... :p

The real problem is a fundamental lack of leadership. I think many people would support a courageous hard stance towards terrorists, their culture, and their countries, but simply there are no leaders in the public eye to have appeared and declared themselves on the side of such measures.

In essence, our societies are hostages to political correctness and a small percentage of very vocal, very well funded "progressive" extremists who are disproportionately represented in the traditional media and public schools. Anyone who might arise to oppose them and their globalist/kumbaya/commie/leftist agendas is immediately denounced as a reincarnation of Hitler or some such. Unfortunately, that tactic still works because a lot of people are indoctrinated by the same public schools and media into a knee-jerk reaction instead of rational critical thought.

Whoa! One of the Britpol threads actually veered into discussion about firearms (G36 vs. SA80). My world is spinning! I'm going back to bed. :D

Can't we all just get along? :barf:

Sterling, don't certain ARU branches and part of the DoD use the new MP7? I read somewhere they've bought a few.

Yes,they do use the MP7 and some cops are armed with them-but only a small number of officers-actually carry them on duty-because of the other weapons, that they use.

Special forces units in the UK-definately use them as well.

[sarcasm]I can't believe you people, how can you be so insensitive? That symbol on the UK flag was used by men to commit horriffic atrocities, of course it should be banned.

And on that note, we should also ban traditional muslim dress, beards, and their habit of praying 5 times a day. After all, we must also protect the feelings of those whos families have been killed by muslim terrorists.:neener:

I never would have thought before now ...

... that posting this would be an act of rebellion:
attachment.php

Oh, yeah, gun content: the SA80 is like the Mossberg Bullpup,
a nice idea on paper, bad idea in the field.
