Send him coward's feather

THE Sun today prints a single white feather to show our disgust at cowardly French President Jacques Chirac.

And we urge our ten million readers to post it to Chirac’s headquarters in Paris to symbolise British anger at France’s soft stance on Saddam Hussein. '

The Order of the White Feather was founded in August 1914 by Admiral Charles Fitzgerald.

The organisation encouraged women to give white feathers to young men who failed to join the British Army as the First World War raged.

The cost of posting a letter to President Chirac’s official residence is just 37p.

To send your white feather protest print this page and send to: President Jacques Chirac, Palais de Elysee, 75000, Paris.

WHOOP! Going to the crafts store in the morning. Just gotta figure out how many stamps it will take to mail it from here.

I seriously can`t see any advantage to having the French, German or Belgians as allies anymore. As Rumsfeld pointed out, they`re "Old Europe".

Of course, no politician has the guts to say after this, war or not, to kick em to the curb.

the now-notorious headline was GOTCHA!
Actually it only appeared in the early editions when it appeared that the ship was still afloat. It was pulled from the later ones and replaced with something on the lines of DID 300 ARGIES REALLY DROWN? An early edition of the paper today would probably be a collectors item.
The Currant Bun is a revolting newspaper but it retains a huge circulation which it uses to justify any of its failings.

foghorn,

I first learned about those from literary genius Dave Barry. I was going to mail some to then Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich when he lost his, but I never got around to it.

Great! :neener:

I can only hope that Chirac doesn't really represent the French people's views. :what:

I liked what Leno said about them the other night - they're in permanent Code Yellow.

That was AFTER he commented on them not wanting to help us kick Saddam out of Iraq:

"Well, DUH! They didn't help us kick the Germans out of France, either!"

:D

VII,

Thanks for the correction.

My English history professor in college had a copy of it on his wall in his office (he was British). I knew it was a great headline, just couldn't remember exactly what it was.

And there's no doubt that the Sun (or Scum, as a Scottish friend calls it) is a bottom feeding newspaper. But it's a FUN bottom feeding newspaper. :)

OT

Publius, did you get your handle from Latin class?:D

I can still here my Latin teacher Mr.Wiley say: "Don't look so lugubrious Publi, it's only a vocabulary quiz.:D LMAO :D

No. I did study Latin, but I got the name in the mid 90s when I first got on the internet. I wanted an anonymous, public name for my user name at my ISP, and I had been reading the Federalist Papers, so I swiped the name they used back then.
