A nice small digicamera that takes off the self batteries, an extra trama plate, and a crap load of jerky.

First, hope he stays safe and sound, so you can send my good wishes.
From what I've read, a 1911 and ammo.
The 9mm seems to be living up to its reputation.
Failing that, cleaning goops and equip, and reading material.
Good luck.

Letters. Lots of 'em. People always ask what they should write, but it doesn't really matter. If you have something to write about, go ahead. If not, write "I love you," sign your name, and slap on a stamp. Lots of mail, even just a few lines, on a regular basis makes every mail call like Christmas.

This sounds silly but My cousin just got home from 2nd tour. He said one of the best things sent to him was kool-aid mix wiht the sugar already added. He said they had water but that was all. This way they could at least taste something while over there. Remember to thank him for all that he/she is doing.

If at all possible when getting batteries get the lithium batteries. They work better at temperature extremes, hold more energy, are lighter and cost like a _____ (Deleted due to Art's Grandmother). Also please be aware Walmart and some other stores will only sell you a few packs ( 2 seems to be the limit at least at Walmart ) Seems that some idiots use them in the creation of Crystal Meth ( Taking battery paste for fun?:what: :barf:)

Also if you can or with a group buy lithum 123 batteries cost as little as $1.25 per batter if you buy them in bulk from Surefire. They have a 10 year shelflife so it is definetly worth it. From Vids I seen of our troops in action There are a LOT of surefire lights overseas even if he does not have one.

I would recomend considering the Pila GL2 for personal use, not weapon use. The LEDs give you a long run time and the Lamp is as bright as my surefires. I have 2 one with White LEDs and one with Red L
eds And it costs about 1/3 of a surefire Aviator :)

Antsi...

My humble suggestion would be a good flashlight or two. (I recommend surefire, but that's just me...) I'd also recommend a decent folding and a nice fixed bladed knife.

Just a few thoughts.

Those are three things that would top my list of what to send, too.
Possibly also a Zippo lighter -- simple and reliable, and useful.
