Range Report --- lower priced ammo ---
Picked up a Compact model a couple of weeks ago, finally got to the range today. I've got 3 magazines, loaded each one once with five different ammo types for a total of 150shots.
CCI Blazer, lead round nose, 30/30, no problems.
Federal American Eagle, lead round nose, 30/30, ditto
.
Winchester Power Point, hollow point, first round didn't raise enough to enter the chamber, may have been my fault in loading the magazine, after that 30/30, no more problems.
Federal Hi-Power, plated round nose, 30/30, no problems.
CCI Mini-Mag, hollow point, 30/30, no problems.
I like, like, like it. Except for the one FTF functioning was flawless. All the magazines (Browning factory mags of course) loaded and fed without any hiccups. No hammer bite, no empties down the neck, ejection was 15-20 feet right and a few feet back. I shot on a covered outside firing line. My hands are bit large for it but notice I don't say the gun is too small
I had to be somewhat conscious of my grip on the grip safety. Sights ... OK for what I was doing, just seeing how it runs. All in all, I'm calling it a keeper.
To cap the session I sighted in the Mountain Gun to a 4" group at 50 yards, four shots in the bull plus a called flier 3" outside the group. I'm satisfied for having 70- year old eyes and the 4" barrel.
If the report nudges anyone else into buying the little Browning, I don't think they'll be sorry.
