Anyone own one? I think this will be my next purchase. I really need something belt-fed, and I was smart enough to get a pile of linked .30-06 back in '99.

Through an odd twist of fate, the CA DOJ does not consider the grip on the 1919 to constitute a 'pistol grip' because it does not protrude beneth the action of the weapon. Rather behind it.

So the 1919 is a legal plain semi-auto rifle.

Now, what is the best place to get one from these days? How accurate are they, any weaver-type mounts available for red-dots?

Buy a kit, a semi auto side plate from Ohio Rapid Fire. Have ORF mill your internals for semi auto configuration. They must be made more narrow so they will not function with a FA side plate. Buy a Karma semi trigger and rivet the whole deal together. It is very easy to do. If that is not your deal, just have ORF put one together for you. There is a group buy going right now that can't be beat...they are full up but taking people on standby status. Click the link;

The above sight is a wealth of info...you might want to spend some time searching the archives there.

What type of links do you have? The 1919 link is different from the M60 link. BMG links release the round from the rear while M60 release from the front.

If you are interested in seeing my build in progress or have any other questions let me know...more than happy to help.

I don't know if ou missed out or not but I think the guy that's putting those buys together for kits just had an offer for complete guns. They were selling the complete 1919 for 1K as long as there were 25+ buyers in a group! If your serious, follow that link, I know a few people that bought the kits and wished they had offered the built 1919's before.
