Browning .22 Buckmark?

I just bought one of these today for my boy to target practice with....
He's been shooting my .32 like theres no tomorrow and that ammo is EXPENSIVE! So I figured I'd buy a .22 Buck mark and he can shoot all he wants much much cheaper..I figure in about 2 months the Browning will pay for itself in ammo I save from the .3032 Tomcat.......

Does anyone on this site have a Browning Buckmark? and if so how do you like or what dont you like? Thanks!drf

I have had one for 12-years or so. Mine has a TON of shells through it, approaching 100K I would guess.

Finest 22 pistol on the market under $700 bar none. I have owned most of the others and shot the rest, they just don't stack up.

Have the Buck Mark Plus (fancier grips). Actually bought it for my wife since she was always complaing about the sights on her Beretta 21A. She loves it and if I set a squirrel target she's dead on every time. I had it out to the range (w/o the wife) this past weekend along with my Ruger Mark II 678G. I'm slightly more accurate with the Ruger with two hands but do better one handed with the Buck Mark because of the shorter barrel. The Buck Mark trigger is also smoother than the Ruger. Your boy will love it (as long as you don't hog it for yourself ).

I have the Camper, Micro and Sporter Rifle. Really good guns. I shoot CCI through mine as it does not like the bulk Federal ammo. Byron

bought myself a buckmark bull barrel with the fancy grips as my second handgun when i determined the desert eagle was way to expensive to shoot all the time.
The buckmark has got to be one of the fastest cycling pistols I have. My custom ruger 22/45 competition gun is a nicer gun, but it wont fire anywhere near as fast as the browning will.
That little gun just spits out rounds and keeps running, doesnt matter how dirty I let it get. Unlike the ruger, which i have determined i actually have to clean.

I've had one for about 11 years. Love it. Accurate, not too expensive, and all the controls are where they should be. I've lost count of how many friends I've introduced to handgunning with this pistol.

Mine was quite accurate. However, after about 2,000 rounds it has become a single shot pistol. Requireing the removal of the right grip and manually resetting the disconnect to engage the sear. I have tried the disconnector spring every way it possible fits. It really looks like the tolerances on the different componets allow the disconnect to simply slip off the sear. In my opinion, it looks cheap inside, and is cheap.

I appologize for the heavily negative post. I am quite frustrated with it right now.

I am going to try to order a new disconnector and disconnector spring. So, I hate the be the only negative poster, but I can honestly say if I had to do it all over again I would have bought the Ruger.

I have a Challenger III. This is the immediate predecesser to the Buckmarks. Pretty much the same gun except back then they put walnut grips on them. I love the way it fits my hand. Reliable and great accuracy.

The thing I don't like about them is the top strap which keeps coming loose as the screws loosen. A minor problem really. All in all, I prefer the Ruger Mark II a little better but not by much.

I bought this from a friend of mine about a year ago for $150. She said it had reliability problems. After I cleaned it (it had never been cleaned) it ran great. I added the new grips and the barrel weight. Besides the center position it's shown in, I can move the weight all the way foreward, or all the way to the rear. Great little plinker, and not too expensive.--Leigh

I know this isn't the rifle forum, but I just bought a buckmark classic carbon rifle yesterday.
That thing is loads of fun.
Only ran fifty or so through it, but mine seemed reliable enough.
I installed the scope turned 45 degrees, oops, my bad, couldn't sight in.
Going to try it again today, weather and sleep permitting.
It doesn't feel like any gun I've ever shot, feels like a cross between a contender and a poodle shooter.
Definately worth the money.

Thanks for the rifle link! Sooner or later...

I was worried about my used Buckmark pistol, but now it seems to be shooting fine. (Only time will tell.)
It needed a thorough cleaning, then it had some problems because I hadn't tightened the back sight enough (didn't have the right allen key).
