Is the Browning Buckmark picky about ammo or will it eat anything I put in it like I hear the Ruger 22/45 can? I handled both today at my local gun shop and the Buckmark fit like a glove. However, if it is picky about ammo I will go with the Ruger.

Any input?

It'd be a good idea to put some decent stuff (CCI -ish) through it for at least 50-100 rounds. Somewhere after that it'll eat anything (well, maybe not remingtons :uhoh:).

I've heard similar stuff from the Ruger guys. Both pistols are exteremely reliable and last a long, long time.

ETA: For accuracy of course better ammo can get better results. Again, both pistol are pretty darn accurate for factory, non target/ match guns.

Mine sometimes chokes on Fed Auto Match- failure to extract. Runs fine on blue or red Fed bulk, tho.

Mine has ran 99.9% right out of the box on nothing but bulk stuff. Old Western Xpert, Blaser bulk, etc. Not picky by any stretch of the imagination. One FTF in probably 450 rounds now.

My Buckmark will function with any ammo I've tried, but it is most accurate with either CCI Standard Velocity, or CCI Blazer.

I feed my BM a steady diet of Blazer and it works great. Doesn't like any of the SV ammo. It needs that little extra kick. Wonderful pistol, very accurate.

I have had my Buckmark for a long time and just recently began having trouble getting it to fire bulk ammo though it would fire Stingers very consistently. I took the gun apart and gave it a thorough cleaning and it fired right up and shot Rem bulk, Win bulk and Blazers with no issues. Taking the gun apart is not the easiest thing to do but it solved my problem. I had been just cleaning the bore and giving it a good wipe down previously so now I know that it occasionally needs to be broken down. Imagine that!
It will not do well with any of the subsonic rounds I have tried.

I guess I'll chime in. My Buckmark prefers CCI Stingers and Mini-Mags. I have run Remington Thunderbolt and Federal bulk through mine and the gun jams every few rounds. CCI now makes a bulk pack specifically for AR .22s that I intend to try out soon. It is supposed to be the bulk version of Mini-Mags so I have high hopes.

Any .22 semi-auto will have some pickiness about ammo, just a fact of life. My Buckmark doesn't like Remington, or any waxed lead bullets. I stick with bulk plated-bullet Federal and Winch.

Had an Aguila subsonic round FTE today. It actually hung up in the chamber. Once I got it out I saw no indication of what caused it to FTE.

That has never happened before, and didn't happen again with another 40 or so rounds after that.

I have Buckmark Camper in SS. I have never had a FTF or FTE on any ammo. I have put Federal bulk, American Eagle, and CCI Mini-Mag through it with no issues. It likes the CCI best for accuracy. It is like a Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking. It really puts a smile on my face. :)
