I was given a Browning A-5, missing the barrel, the stock is trashed, cracked, and broken, and the big spring is broken. Is it worth fixing? It's a Belgian gun, pre WWII.
Any sources for parts? I'Ve seen the walnut stocks in Cabelas, but not sure if they are any good. Also some synthetic ones are sold.
Thanks for any info.

It could be worth fixing depending on your budget.
The barrel will be the most expensive part. They usually go for appx $300 to $600 depending on which style you are purchasing: invector/invector plus or belgian. The invector barrels were made in Japan and will have the screw in chokes.
Look on ebay for barrels and parts, also try Midwest Guns and Gun Parts. For the stock, check ebay, cabela's, or boyds. On ebay , they can get expensive, but are usually ready to put on your gun. The stocks from cabela's and boyds may need finishing and are appx $50.00.
You will need a forearm also, check the same places listed above.
Or, you could purchase one of the Ramline synthetic stock/forearm for appx $60.00. I have one on my A5 and like it. Bell and Carlson also makes a synthetic stock, but it is more expensive than the ramline.
You will also need a recoil spring, friction pieces, and magazine cap.
And look into your local gun shops and gun shows for barrels. And buy a current copy of " ". It used to be called Gun List, but they recently changed thier name and I cant think of what the new title is right now. It is a large newspaper type periodical. The same size and type as Shotgun News. There are some gun shops advertising barrels and they may have what you are looking for.

barrels are out there. Many people have replaced the barrel on their older A5 to use modern shot. I have a couple of A5 12 GA barrels in the closet, that came off guns that now wear Hastings barrels. Getting them to seel one could be hard. I know mine are staying put.
If you not going to be waterfowl hunting, an older barrel would suit you.

A5 Barrels

I just did a short search, for these barrels.

One used barrel for $175.

everything else $240 and up.

Forearms are going to be fun also, A synthetic set is about the only way to go. and if all you can find is for the 3" Think PVC! 1" PVC fits over the mag tube and makes a spacer that atleast for my skeet gun is at several thousend rounds and still going.
