I have ended up with this little gem of a browning A bolt in 22LR, I’ve fitted a 2x7 compact leupold scope to.

the poor rifle just isn’t a very good shooter. 2-3 inch groups are the norm at 50 yds with ammunition ranging from RWS target to bulk HP’s. In fact it especially hates the standard velocity stuff.

I’ve given the bore a good cleaning and shot enough to season it back up. The bbl is free floated and I’ve tried adding forend pressure with no real change.

Before I relegate this rifle as a pretty but poor shooter I would like to pick your brains and see if you fellas have either loads or anything to do to these to perhaps tighten those groups a bit.

What range are you getting 2-3” and how was the wind? Maybe try messing with the torque action screws and check scope mounts to make sure nothing is loose.

I had the same thing going on with a Remington bolt action 22 a few years ago. I was getting 2 inch or larger groups at 50 yds. Took it to a gunsmith and he took one look and said "We need to clean the crown up." Made all the difference in the world, went to 1/2 inch groups and stayed there. I would try a different scope first though.
