i was looking at one at the local sporting goods store and was curious what i should expect to pay for it. the tag hanging from it said $830.00. i came home and found them online ranging anywhere from 500-900. there's an FFL holder in my small town in alaska so if i waited and found one online for $600 with shipping and FFL fees id be looking at $650-700. does that sound right? i dont mind over paying a little bit but $130-200 is too much. Is there negotiation room? its not big-5 or anything its just a local place in kodiak.

I paid $750 for one in .270 about six months ago at a gander mtn after a little haggling. I'd would have to come way off $830, but the 650 to 700 sounds like a deal too me.

edit: Some of the local guys around here will be more willing to negotiate if you have printed the prices you've found on the web. That way you can support your local guys, and still not get screwed too bad on the price. I am willing to pay more (like $50) to get a firearm locally. Sometimes it will just make them really mad, depends on the place.

$750 around here-------$880-ish for the camo stocked version.

As an aside ---you have chosen darn near the most perfect all round hunting implemement ever made-----that and the stainless Tikka T3 .30-06 are tops.
