I have crazy theories about ammo manufacturers of late and they get laughed at quite often and I said I would not buy current production ammo. With that said I found an unopened 500 round case of browning 9mm brass case ammo for an amazing deal and I bought it.

I was kinda shocked when I opened the case and found all the brass to be Winchester or nato style head stamps. I compared to older browning ammo I have and that has a small buck head on it.

I bought my ammo through rural king, so it's not questionable.

I admit I don't keep up with what manufacturer makes what for who, but looks like Winchester is loading ammo to be marketed by Browning. Primers appear to be sealed and crimped. A good thing I think, unless you reload. I've reloaded quite a bit of the Winchester NATO with crimped primers. Always had to remove the primer crimp.

FWIW, I've used I don't even know how many thousands of rounds of the Winchester 9mm NATO with crimped primers. It has been a solid performer in all my 9mm firearms for decades; reliable, never a dud or other issue that I can recall...

Those antler headstamps confuse me. It reminds me of some middle eastern characters...these cases all go into the scrap pile so as to ease my confusion.

Winchester makes all that ammo. With the situation as it is, I'm sure that instead of waiting for the cases with the buck symbol and Browning headstamp to be made separately, they just put ammo from the production lines for Win. and Win. NATO 9mm in Browning boxes, betting few would notice and fewer would care what the headstamps were.
It wouldn't surprise me to find Herter's shotgun shells in Browning boxes and vice versa, since they are the same hull, just different stampings on the rim.

Did Browning (Winchester) introduce a new line of ammunition called "Floor Sweeps"? That box of ammunition looks like they cleaned up the production line and packaged whatever they swept up off of the floor. I'm sure it keeps in Brownings (Winchesters) normal high standards of quality.

I like that, over all length of cartridges vary .002 to .037 inch in the box I surveyed.

I don't believe Winchester makes any ammunition. Olin applies the Winchester trademark that it owns to some of the ammunition it makes. Other ammo is produced under the Western and Super-X trademarks they also own, or under contract to FN which owns the Browning trademark.

Mixed headstamps in a box may have been sold as blems, providing an opportunity for retailer and consumer to get slightly better pricing.

Pedantic? Me?

Olin owns the Winchester name. They make Winchester ammo but license the Winchester name for firearms production to FN. The Browning and Winchester firearms are made by FN so it isn't a surprise that Olin would make Browning branded ammo.
