Anyone have one? Anything I should know about them?

Looking for a lightweight rifle for tacking deer, currently been using an AR10 platform and I’m sick of the weight and the noise it makes in the brush.

Does anyone have a scoped weight of one of these? Browning lists them as 6lbs. 10oz bare bones so I’m hoping you could make it sub 8lbs scoped.

Wow, I hadn't looked at Bar in a while, that's way lighter than they used to be.
With a light scope and mounts, you should be able to come in at 8 or under if Browning's weight is correct.

The way it's looking i'll have to sacrifice 1lb in weight to go with semi over bolt, not bad at all.

Looks like they changed the receiver to aluminum from steel. Wonder how reinforced the scope mounts are, I know on my aluminum receiver 12GA the steel screws in the mounts eventually pulled the aluminum threads right out.

I have a mk iii in 300 Winchester Magnum i bought years ago. Put a Loupld 3.5 x10 scope on it. When I was younger I carried and hunted with it alot. I still shoot it pretty regular. It is a very pretty and reliable rifle. It is just got too heavy for my old and aging body to hunt with. I have had no experience with the aluminum ones. I always liked steel for duribility. I am old school and I have never liked aluminum or plastic firearms. Mounting a scope on aluminum just never seemed to me like it could hold up. I always like a firearm I can look at how pretty it is, if I am not killing any game.

I have three BARs. All scoped. All magnum. Early model - grade Ii - a little over 9 lbs; a safari - a little under 9 lbs.; a high grade with aluminum receiver - a little over 8 lbs. I also have Husquavarna with scope in a mag that runs a little under 8. To me the BARs are certainly comparable when you consider cycle speed, less recoil, and a quieter report.

That's with the wood furniture, right?

The stalker with the plastic furniture is 8oz less so that might come in right at 8lbs or less scoped. Very Nice. As much as I love the wood.

I had a couple of aluminum receiver BAR’s, one with the BOSS system and one without. Both were satisfying enough for walk-around hunting use, but their buttstocks did not fit me at all and the options for dealing with that were very limited.

In the end, I sold them because they just didn’t fit me well enough to keep.
