Hello,

I just ordered a new stock from Richards for a Browning BBR 270 which I broke the stock on last hunting season. I was looking at the factory stock and noticed it has a u shaped rod that runs down a good portion of the stock. I am wondering if anyone out there knows what this is for? Should I try to remove this rod and hollow out the new stock and try to insert it in it? The 270 would shoot 1/2 - 3/4 inch groups before I broke the stock and I want to try to duplicate the performance as much as possible and really do not even know what the purpose of the rod is for but want to make sure I do everything possible so that this rifle continues to shoot great groups. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
