A guy I know has a Browning BPS with a 22" invector barrel. It is a Magnum gun which holds 2.75 and 3" shells. It has an "english" style walnut stock and blued receiver and barrel. The guy wants $325 for it, and says it has only been shot twice, each time with only around 15-20 shells. I have been wanting a BPS, but I am not sure how much a "used" one should go for. Please help. Is it worth the $325?

There are four on Gunbroker right now, 2 12s and 2 20s, NIB, listed at a Buy It Now price of $430.99. There's one used one listed at a starting price of $349.95, one used one at a claimed 95% finish starting at $400.

I bought one a couple months ago for a bit less than the price you've been quoted that was also a bit more worn. Doesn't sound like a house-afire deal, but not too bad a deal either, especially if you get more than one choke tube with it (used Invector Plus tubes go for $15- 17). The one I got was the first I'd ever seen on the used rack, and I look at LOTS of used shotguns.

Nice looking shotgun, too...

If it has had only 2 outings, it should appear nearly NIB unless someone has abused it somewhat. I have one just like it and have put several thousand shells through it without a hiccup. I'd buy it if that was what I wanted. Of course you can always bargain a little with them first to see if the price will go down a little. Or maybe they will toss in a case of shells to go with it.

Forgot to post that it comes with 3 chokes. 2 are invectors- one is M, one is full. The other is a Kiks Gobblin' Thunder super full. It also comes with an SKB gun case, a padded super sling, a box of Federal Premium high velocity turkey loads and two boxes of Remington Shurshot heavy dove loads.

It was a good price before you threw in the extras, but now it is a great price. Call him now!

BPS

I paid $300 in the early '90s for mine and it had over 3000 rounds through it on the trap range and looked new then as it does now. It is the best pump I've ever owned and is showing no signs of losing that title. If you don't buy it please send me his contact info quickly. I can't imagine it being around long if he's serious about selling it.

Uhmm, he's trying to rip you off, give me his phone number and I'll set him straight, and no need to call him after we make a deal, I mean, after I deal with him:p

Seriously, as a lefthanded shooter, I love the BPS, and I also love any long arm with a top tang safety. Nothing wrong with an 870 or Mossberg, but I walk right over either one to get a BPS or Ithaca Model 37.
