I have been looking at two different guns for turkey hunting. The first is a Browning BPS with a 22" barrel, invector choke tubes, and is the "Upland Special" version. The other is a Remingon 870 SPS-T with a 20" barrel, truglow sights, and a sling, but has a youth model stock. The Browning is barely used, and the Remington is NIB. Both are $325. Both are chambered for 2.75" and 3". Which should I buy?

I have hunted turkey with my BPS with 26" barrel. It is a great gun but a little heavy to lug around in the woods. The benefit is that I have used it for duck and geese and it has worked flawlessly once you figure out how to load it...:)

I think the 22" barrel and the english stock will make it a nice set up and you could be a little more versatile in your hunting.

My $0.02 worth.

BPS is heavy, and Upland Special has an English grip. Lots of free recoil. Great for upland hunting, not turkey.

870 is a youth gun.

I'd get neither, for turkey hunting.

Didn't you say you had hunted all sorts of things? Do you not currently own any shotguns?

i love my BPS. The bottom eject is great because your empties are right at your feet. Plus the heavy weight soaks up recoil.

Handle them both. Take the one that fits better. Both will make great turkey guns.

After months of research I believe that the Rem 870 is THE shotgun. Most major manufactures produce very reliable great shotguns, but due to the fact that the 870 is simple in design, built to last, and has just about everything imaginable for mods, it is impossible to beat. I have been tempted to buy other brands, and almost bought a Mossy the other day, but didn't because no matter how you slice it, nothing beats the 870.
