Do any of you have both a Browning Buck Mark Rifle and a Ruger 10/22? I'd like to know what you think of the two compared to each other. Accuracy, range, etc. for varmint and small game hunting. Thanks

/edit
Or have you shot both rifles? Just looking for some comparisons.

I have a Buckmark pistol - and I have to say, the rifle looks pretty cool. They have a couple of different finishes - and the grey colored finish with the fiber optic sights installed is nice.

If I was gonna buy a 22, I'd probably get the Buckmark - I like the different looks of it compared to the traditional look of the ruger 10/22.

That being said - there are more ways to customize the Ruger. The Ruger would be cheaper. And, if you want to clean the Buckmark (disassemble it for a thorough cleaning) - you have to take the scope rail off. Meaning, U may have to adjust the zero when U put it back together.

Unless U just like the way the Buckmark feels, I'd say that the Ruger is probably the easier way to go.

for good looks, and accuracy, and reliability, the browning smokes a ruger all day, allthough their is something to be said for that flush fit rotary 10 round mag of the ruger...

If you buy a 10/22...expect to be infected with a serious case of Improvement Disease. It starts out small, with a visit to rimfirecentral. By the time you realize you've spent TWICE what the rifle costs in modifications, it's too late. Bull barrels, free-float stocks, Volquartsen triggers, jeweled bolts, mounts, rings, high-dollar optics...oh the pain, the pain!

Have 10/22 in 22 lr with 17 mach 2 set-up works well and is a lot of fun. I have shot the BM rifle, it shot well and is cool looking. I will keep my 10/22.

I own both. The 10/22 is really a hit and miss gun. Mine had awful FTF and FTE problems. It seems like every other stock 10/22 I have shot have these same problems in varying degrees. If you enjoy tinkering get the Ruger. I you want a great reliable shooter out of the box, the BMR is awesome. I own the sporter with the fiber optic sights. Its my favorite off hand shooter. It seems to be more accurate than my 10/22 although i have no glasses on my browning to make a fair comparison. If times were tough my 10/22 would go without a thought. The BMR would be my last to go.

Omaha, why did u think it was a POS? Very hard to believe...

Misfires---failures to feed and eject---was basically a single shot---if that.

I spent big bucks for the lightweight carbon fiber version and it was worthless.

Get the 10/22.

10/22 is all right as long as you use the factory mag, when I changed to a higher round capacity after market mag it was hit or miss on ftf.
I am a Browning fan myself.

I used to own both. Now I only have the Buckmark.

I found it to be more accurate than the stock Ruger, and they both worked (although the Buckmark was more expensive, so it isn't really apples to apples . . . I probably could have put a nicer barrel on the Ruger for about the same cash I had in the Buckmark), and the Buckmark used the same mags as my .22 pistol, and I thought it looked nicer, so that's the one I kept.

I like and own other Brownings-----but you couldn't pay me to own another Buckmark----rifle or pistol------didn't have good luck with the pistol either.
