I am considering the purchase of both .22 and .22 mag leverguns. For the .22, would you recommend a Marlin 39A or a Browning BL-22 in terms of quality and accuracy? I have a friend recommending the 39A Mountie in particular. I would be using it for 'precision plinking' and small game hunting.

I am also thinking of getting a .22 magnum levergun and wonder about the quality and accuracy of the Henry vs the Winchester 9422m. I know there is a huge difference in price - is the Winchester worth it? Many thanks.

Prescion plinking and lever guns dont generally go together in my uneducated opinion.

If you do want to precision plink get a CZ 452 or thereabouts IMHO...

That being said lever guns are ultra cool...

Precision plinking..

I am thinking of 1" or so at 50 yards, which is what my friend gets with his 39A Mountie. If I was going for smaller groups than that, I agree I would need to go for a bolt action.

Someone may call BS on this but it is the truth. Back in the mid/late 1980's I had a BL22 with a cheap Tasco 3-7 scope on it. I can't remember the 22 brand I was using , but off of sandbags at 100 yds I put 3 rds that could be covered by a nickel, that were centered on the x ring of the target I was using. The range was at the club I belonged to at the time. Like a fool I traded that rifle off. I wished many times over I had it back.
