I don't have a 17 HMR, but this 17 Mach2 I gotta have. It will be out late summer/early fall. Accuracy, flat trajectory and 1,600 FPS from the 5.5" barrel, 2,100 FPS out of a rifle barrel. I want the target model with the scope rail. I'll mount a JPoint red dot. I gotta believe this thing will be a tackdriver. I've read everything I can on this new cartridge. This month's Shooting Times has a great 17 Mach 2 article. Anything that can chamber a 22lr can be mfg'd to run this new round. I'll use this gun for targets and varmints. I currently use a 22 wmr scoped revolver for this. Question; How does the Buckmark compare to the Ruger 22's? Is it easier to take down and clean? Equal or better quality & accuracy?

Mach 2? All I can say is: cool, I'm ordering a 17 bbl for my 22LR 10/22! To me, this cartridge screams rifle, not pistol

Browning vs. Mk II is akin to Glock vs. 1911: you're inciting a religious war there. :D

I have a Mk II (Slabside) and just love it, but I haven't heard anything from Ruger about supporting this new 17 in the Mark II. But the Buckmark is a great gun too and its accuracy will probably be better than the vast majority of shooters will ever be able to achieve.

And one quick comment: if you break a Ruger Mk II down and can't reassemble it, that tells me you can't follow simple, printed instructions. :neener:

Never owned a MK II but, have heard they are not as simple (didn't say I couldn't do it) as others to break down. Re: rimfire handguns, all mine have been wheelguns except one (MAgnum Research Mountain Eagle). I read that all the major rimfire makers will chamber their guns in this new caliber. Look for them late summer/early fall. Don't want a religious war between Ruger/Browning. I just like the Buckmark.

Sounds like a cool cartridge! If they work in these, I say get this! Most accurate .22 handgun I have personally shot.
