I am trying to make up my mind between the Browning Buckmark Camper and the Standard Buckmark. I used to have a standard model and sold it (DAGGG NABBIT!) so now I am on the lookout for another.

I know about the difference in the barrels (slab sided blue vs. round w/dull finish). My question is that other than the barrel, what is the difference between them? A guy I know told me the standard is a more accurate gun than the camper. I thought it sounded like a load of b.s....

Anybody have firsthand experience with both of them? (keep in mind, I have owned a standard... the $65 price difference is just making the camper very tempting).

Barrel contour and price does seem to be the only difference. (Have a Standard.) Total wweights, barrel lengths are the same. I can't see why the Camper would be any less accurate than the Standard. Sounds to me he was just trying to get more profit out of you. The retail price difference between the two is $30. I can see how the Standard would be more costly due to the lathing and then milling the flat side of the barrel as compared to the simple lathing operation of the Camper's.

I have 3 Buckmarks, a Camper a Micro and a Plus. (Really the Micro is my wife's but she lets me shoot it sometimes ;))Of the 3, the Micro is the most accurate, then the Plus, then the Camper. The difference is really pretty small though and is probably due more to the individual guns themselves than anything else.

YUP!

I'm on my third one over the years. They are all capable of outstanding accuracy. You can interchange barrels within their line-up. For instance, I swapped out a short 'Micro' barrel for that of a Camper just to get the longer sight-radius.

The only thing I would encourage you to look for would be the new 'ears' at the rear of the bolt. That indicates the most recent production guns, as well as it being easier to operate the bolt. Just as what Ruger did with the introduction of the MKII series. ;)
