I finally got a chance to play with my newest toy. I blew a few mags of CCI Minimags through the new Buckmark last night and I'm happy with the function. It shoots at every imaginable angle - no malfunctions. It's a pretty smooth little pistol - good trigger for a $250 gun. I am happy. :)

It was too dark to test accuracy - that'll come later.

Which model Buckmark did you get? Fun gun. Mine needed some wear in. I found some fiber optic front sights really helped in those inconsistantly lit ranges.

I've used my Target 5.5 with a ATN holo red dot for bullsesye last winter. Very accurate pistol, but does need cleaning after 500 rds or so. I use either CCI standard or Eley Target. Good luck and enjoy the pistol.

I don't just like my Buckmark, I think it is probably the best gun for the money on the market and then some. It is one of the best purchases I have ever made, it is just a fantastic gun.

I don't clean mine very often, I add oil and shoot it. 100K plus rounds through it in the last 12 or 13 years and it has only been cleaned 5 times tops. It is still as reliable as the day I bought it and just as accurate.

It's good to hear you guys like your Buckmarks. :)

I bought the Pro Target model with the 5.5" bull barrel. I will be putting a fiber-optic front sight on it as the all black target sights are a little slow in targe acquisition.

The only thing I don't like about it is that is looks like a PIA to field strip. :fire:

According to my informants <grin> you really don't have to strip it down, nor really clean it much - I'm a neat freak gun-wise and found taking my buckmark down a pain as well - but I am told that anything more than a q-tip in the breech and a little lube on the rails is too much. With that, you're good for 5-10k rounds (stipulating quality ammo).

I've nearly lost parts EVERY time I opened it up - either the lock washers, or the recoil buffer or the recoil spring itself. It's a relief to find out that you really don't need to do it very often. (and then in a completely enclosed space without nooks and crannies to loose things in :) . One fellow lost the recoil buffer down through the cracks in his deck.)

I don't have a gun I don't strip down into a lot of pieces - it'll be tough to leave the Buckmark alone. :uhoh:

I haven't found my Buckmark to be too difficult to field strip, although the necessity of using an Allen wrench to do so would probably put it in that category for many. I field-strip it and clean it after every trip to the range, but I'm meticulous that way.

You don't have to.

Candiru and I are similar in that we both think the BM is easy to strip and we both clean it every range visit. Before I got my BM I got the impression that only the ultra-mechanically-inclined would strip it successfully. Now I'm more inclined to consider those with that perspective as simply lazy.

Take the sight rail off - can you turn a allen wrench? Pop out the recoil rod, remove the slide and that's as far as you need to go. Now clean it. Regarding lube, I have found my BM functions smoother when I slick up the slide with tetra grease as opposed to oil, especially when using standard velocity loads.

Note to self: Must get Buckmark soon.
You're going to love it.

Yep, Buckmarks are great. I love mine.

One time I was making a soda can bounce all around in rapid fire. A buddy of mine said "oh, you're think you're pretty good eh, hit this" and sent a bottle cap spinning down range. I drew down on it, and just as it hit the ground I fired sending it spinning off into the weeds. It was one of those shots I'll never be able to repeat, but I just smugly reholstered the pistol while saying "yeah, I'm pretty good". :neener:

I don't think it is so bad to field strip. I wish it didn't need a tool, but that isn't so bad. And I field strip every time i do to the range. I do wish the recoil buffer stayed in easier when I put it back together, but it isn't so bad.

I have the Buckmark Micro Plus. I got a great deal on it - $240. The condition was that I had to buy this Browning HiPower that the owner had on consignment forever. No need to twist my arm!
I do wish I had one with a longer barrel, but I'll live.

Yes, the black on black sights are terrible for target aquisition. I don't know why magazine writers swear on them. I swear at them.

That's another thing we have in common. Standard oil tends to leave it feeling a little too slappy.
