Today was the second time I have taken this Hi-Power to the range and boy what a difference.

Picked it up a couple of weeks ago and took it to the range after a quick cleaning. Had a couple of FTE and FTF's on the first trip.

So I decided to order a Service Pack II from Wolff springs along with a reduced power trigger spring.

Needless to say when I tore it down it was gunked up pretty bad. Previous owner didnt do a good job cleaning it. Cleaned it up, installed springs and polished the feed ramp.

Also took with me 2 KRD 15 round mags. 1st mag wouldnt take more than 7 rounds. Opened it up and sure enough, the spring was in wrong. Installed it correctly and works fine now. Both worked without a hitch.

So, the range report. For a 29 yr old gun this thing shoots like a dream. Trigger is much better now and accuracy, well I will let the picture speak for itself. 25 yds shooting Winchester White Box 115 FMJ. Next trip out will be when I install an ambi safety and a few boxes of JHP. This gun Rocks!!!

Hello, and thanks for sharing your observations. I find the Hi Power to be a favorite pistol to shoot and it appears that yours may be in the same catagory for you.

Best.

Wow, good shooting Lennyjoe. Nice pistol! There are those among us who think it doesn't get better than the Hi-Power.

And those KRDs are nice mags, eh?

mighty fine shooting i always wanted a hi-power. i've never shot one but i have held them at gun shows and it seems that hammer comes waaaay back and i was wondering if hammer bite was a problem:confused:
also has anybody tryed that s.f.s. from cylinder and slide you know where the hammer is cocked when you disengage the safety :)

Cosmose ... never yet suffered hammer bite!!

Lennyjoe .. excellent result ..... IIRC you got that one at an awesome good price.

Great shooting ... yeah at 25 yds even the HP is not the easiest gun to tame for grouping. Kudos!

Aren't they great guns!:)

I'm going to have to post armed guards around my wallet if these posts keep coming. But wait... I'll have to arm them with Hi Powers! I'm doomed.

Hello. The frame finish on the Practical is hard chrome. The yellowish hue on the original poster's adj sight Hi Power makes me think it's electroless nickle.
FN has not made any stainless Hi Powers. (Just stuck that in there as someone usually asks about that.)

Best.

My BHP MKIII in 9MM is nice too. I like the 1911 but, I have a BHP too. The SFS is a solution in search of a problem. Don't bother. KRD seems to have monkeys putting their mags together. I had the same dyslexic assembly in mine.

I seen alot of Hi-Powers today at the gunshow. Belgiums were going for an average of $659.

Guess I got a smoking deal at $300 huh:D

As for the finish on the one I got, its nickle and the trigger and hammer has jewling done to it. Previous owner did it all. Not me.

Go ahead, rub it in. :)

I've owned two BHP Practicals. The first I sold to a friend because I needed money. I get to see it every so often, but I still missed it immediately. So, when the opportunity arose and I had funding, I bought a second one. I'll go on a starvation diet before I let this one go!
