I put a used Browning Hi-power on lay-away today, this will be my first Hi-power and I don't know much about them.

It is fully hard chromed and has adjustable sights, the front of the slide is a little darker I guess from being shot, does anyone know a good way to clean it up, it being hard chrome and all?

I field stripped it and it didn't show any signs of wear on the standard areas I look at when buying a used auto, extractor, ejector, breach face slide rails ect all looked good. the slide had a just a little (a very little) more play than the new one I had next to it, it doesn't look like it's been shot all that much but like I said this is my first HP so I don't know how they break in.

The serial # is 245NW67xxx I was told it's a 1994 and both mags are hi-cap with a Pachmyer rubber pad at the bottom.

All in all it's the one that I have been looking for and I can't wait to get it home.

The HP in this pic I found looks just like it other than roll stamp markings being in front of the ejection port and saying "Made in Belgium assembled in Portugal"

Congrats! If it is anything like my Browning (also a 1994 manufacture/NW serial), then you'll love it.

If I could offer some advice, it would be to buy a lot of magazines while they're cheap. Don't make any drastic plans for the trigger until you've shot about 500 rounds throught it -- the trigger smooths up a lot in that time. You said it's used, true, but you can never tell what its current round count is... better to just put the 500 thru yourself.

I've learned recently that the BHPs are a very nice platform to shoot 9mm from. I bought mine pre-owned too and have been pleasantly surprised w/ it!

Congrats!

Congrat's ... I shall be surprised if this does not delight you - tho I know there are those that do not like HP's. I agree re mags .. stock up!!
