Need help from the HP gurus. :D I know that both are made by FN, but the FN Mark III is made and assembled in Belgium and the Browning Mark III is made in Belgium but assembled in Portugal. Is there any difference in reliability or accuracy between the two?

I don't think there's any difference, although I've heard that the guns made AND assembled in Belgium may be of marginally better fit and finish. That's purely anecdotal though.

If you get the Browning, you're only paying more for the name.

Hello. Same maker, same guns except for the markings. I'm not sure how long it will last or how long it's been this way, but the last two new Mk III (Browning) Hi Powers I saw simply said, "Made in Belgium."

Early FN Hi Power imports did have some rougher finished guns, but the last few FN-marked Hi Powers were equivalent to the Mk III with Browning markings.

There will always be unexpected variations on a theme with FN. Seems I recently read about a grey-colored FN Hi Power. FN will sell military overruns on the commercial market w/o warning. Not saying it's "bad" only that they have on several ocassions in the past.

Best.

Just a thought-- have you checked out an Arcus 94? If you aren't dead set about an FN, they are well worth the money IMO.

I have two Browning Hi Powers - one 9mm and one .40.

As far as I know, the MKIIIs from Browning and FN are the same. I, personally, simply prefer to have the "Browning" name on my Hi Powers.
