The evolution of post soviet communism in the Slogans of the World Festival of Youth and Students, a formerly Communist and now merely left leaning group of otherwise reasonable youth. Observe the change in their message:

    Year Host Official motto
1947 Prague, Czechoslovakia "Youth Unite, Forward for Lasting Peace!"
1949 Budapest, Hungary "Youth Unite, Forward for Lasting Peace, Democracy, National Independence and a better future for the people"
1951 Berlin (East), GDR "For Peace and Friendship – Against Nuclear Weapons"
1953 Bucharest, Romania "For Peace and Friendship"
1955 Warsaw, Poland "For Peace and Friendship – Against the Aggressive Imperialist Pacts"
1957 Moscow, USSR "For Peace and Friendship"
1959 Vienna, Austria "For Peace and Friendship and Peaceful Coexistence"
1962 Helsinki, Finland "For Peace and Friendship"
1968 Sofia, Bulgaria "For Solidarity, Peace and Friendship"
1973 Berlin (East), GDR "For Anti-Imperialist Solidarity, Peace and Friendship"
1978 Havana, Cuba "For Anti-Imperialist Solidarity, Peace and Friendship"
1985 Moscow, USSR "For Anti-Imperialist Solidarity, Peace and Friendship"
1989 Pyongyang, North Korea "For Anti-Imperialist Solidarity, Peace and Friendship"
<cue fall of soviet union, communism proven harmful to your health>
1997 Havana, Cuba "For Anti-Imperialist Solidarity, Peace and Friendship"
2001 Algiers, Algeria "Let’s Globalize the Struggle For Peace, Solidarity, Development, Against Imperialism"
2005 Caracas, Venezuela "For Peace and Solidarity, We Struggle Against Imperialism and War"

Hahaha theyre gonna look kinda silly rotating between 3 countries and africa for the rest of time.

I'm sure ********** or NY will invite them. Those are basically communist countries.

Wikipedia is essentially worthless for anything beyond mere amusement.

Wikipedia allows anyone on the face of planet earth to add anything they so desire into Wikipedia.

Can other readers come along and "correct" it? Sure.

However, if you happen to look at Wikipedia during the two hours and 26 minutes that the entry says the United States was begun in 1736 by a conspiracy of Neo-Catholic Masonic Front for the Buddho-Islamic-Judaic Illuminati of Budapest, well then, that's what Wikipedia said.

Wikipedia is totally worthless as a place to reliably get reliable information.

What, you didn't already know that? :neener:

They have some good and reasonably balanced beginning info on guns, though.

It does have some interesting stuff on firearms, as well as scientific subjects of interest. Really the only place you need to really watch it is controversial subjects (usually politics). I've noticed they've forced people to be registered and vetted to adjust certain topics (for instance, go to their site for W or Al Gore or Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan).

the one word missing from all those mottos' is freedom. Not once was it included. let's trade freedom for so-called peace.

Try and vandalize wikipedia and you will see that it gets reverted within about half an hour.

Yes, a lot of the information there is halfassed from a serious scholarly standpoint, but there is a ton of correct info on there for casual reference.

Pretty good. I like this a little better. Scroll down to the 'reality tab'. Believe it or not, Russian Roulette has actually killed some people! I would'a never thought it was possible!

I have to agree. Why, just yesterday, I found the gate arrangements to build a parallel-in, serial-out shift register, and a decent discussion about the different kinds of flip-flops. The information was so useless that all of the devices I was breadboarding worked.
