I have a Browning Buckmark Hunter with a 7.25 inch barrel but I need to swap it out to a shorter barrel for a match I'll be shooting shortly. The screw I need to remove to swap barrels is stuck very tightly. Is there any tips to getting it unscrewed?
I've heard the newer production runs have something like lock-tite keeping them secure so this may be a challenge. It seems like this should be fairly straight forward but I've always been a little slow...

Thanks,
HB

Carefully apply heat - to the screw if possible - use a soldering iron. Some folks have had success with a heat gun on the frame, you need to be careful to not damage any plastic/rubber parts. Alternate the heat with trying to turn the screw.

Thanks. I'll try a soldering iron directly on the screw. I'll remove all springs and plastic bits i can reach to avoid damage.

If you do that, the screw itself will expand and you'll never get it out!!

When I swapped barrels on mine the hex screw wouldn't budge at first. I put it in a vise with the barrel pointing up and filled the cavity around the screw with Kroil & let it soak over night. Came out easily the next day.

Hmm, maybe I'll try the Kroil first then. Seems like a smaller chance of damage... Or I could buy another pistol :D

Tried the penetrating oil then used a long wrench to loosen it. Thanks for the help

Heat it to break the seal of the Loctite. Then let it cool before trying to remove the screw.
