Rupestris posted about this knife awhile back. Thanks to his heads up I finally got around to picking one up ($15 shipped new off ebay).

I liked the look of Bucks Hartsook before but I don't like S30V steel. The Smidgen is Buck's 420HC.

Blade length is 1 7/8 " and the whole knife is 4 1/4". It comes with a paracord loop for a necker, but also with carabineer with a built in bottle opener. The knife is real thin ,1/16" ,so if you want to cut through a car it isn't for you. It is an excellent slicer. And it came arm hair sharp out of the box.

With my CRKT Dogfish..

And for a sense of scale with my sons Case Soddie JR and my Vic Hiker

If your State allows fixed blades, and you think you might like a pocket fixed blade, this is one to consider. Would I use it for SD ? Only if it is the only thing I had on me. But it is great for any cutting chore that I have needed a knife for thus far. This will be staying on my key ring for along time to come.

Thanks for the update Todd. I haven't got one yet. I kinda forgot about them. Got some new Moras recently and have been snuggling with them lately. :D

How well does the sheath hold? I have the same Dogfish and it could use some tightening up. For a neck knife its fine but I'd be hesitant to put it on a keychain.

Rupestris, The first hole in the handle fits into a nub on the sheath. You need to press the nub out of the hole to draw the knife. Very secure.

I have the same problem with my dogfish sheath as well.I don't use the dogfish as a necker,I hitch the chain to a belt loop and pocket carry it vertically.

Steve,

Thanks.
