2K+ for Bushmasters?!!

Are you kidding me?!

I should sell a couple of my Colt LEs and I might be able to pay off my credit card!

Yeah, my Bushmaster pre-ban just became more valuable than my Gen lll Colt Single Action Army

I may actually sell a couple of rifles and see what I can get for them. I went to a LGS today and he had sold everything "tactical" that he had in stock despite raising prices so he would NOT sell out. He has more coming this week and already raised prices again because he wants a few guns on the shelves. He has deposits on 100% of his incoming inventory AT the inflated prices and is turning folks away. He is out of all his .22 ammo and some of it is backordered until March from the distributors.

I'm not going to sell them, but I wonder what my high quality Frankenguns would draw in an auction.

Pisses me off. I have had a SUB2000 on my "wish list" with them for like 2 years and have never got an email that some arrived. Now I see they have one up for auction. In the past I have seen the same thing with them.

Is it bad that I bought an ar 2 months ago mainly because "bama gunna taerk err gunzzz", but I do not get as much enjoyment as I do out of it as I do my handguns so Im probably going to end up selling it for huge profit? what kind of price can one expect out of a $700 basic ar post ban? what about mags? I dont mean to sound like a brady buncher, but I really have no need for it, find myself shooting and enjoying pistol much more. plus, 223 is really expensive to reload compared to loading homebrewed cast pistol bullets!

Dont feel too bad about your feelings. I went completely through the last ban not owning an AR or AK and in fact only had a 9mm Colt Combat Commander and a Ruger MK1 Bull Barrel sitting in the drawer for 20 years without shooting them. The Colt was not even reliable. Then one day, I decided I wanted to start playing with guns again, and I got a new extractor for the Colt, tuned it, and went to a gun show and sold it for $900. The same day on the other side of the room I picked up my first AR since the SP1 I owned back in the late 70's.

What goes around comes around, there will be more AR's in your future.......I hope.

I know how you feel. I picked up a AR and a Saiga a couple years back mainly because I knew this day would come. I'm torn between selling one to finance the purchase of a Springfield xds. My wife says keep them and save up for the xds. She also believes there could be a zombie apocalypse though.

I read a post at another website about a small. very well stocked gunshop in a rural state.
.
This got out on the web and people drove for hours to get to this shop. Even though they put a limit on how much ammo and mags you could buy they sold out but they still had a stock of AR's for a few days.

The gunshop owner said that people were actually buying extra AR's just so they could have an extra magazine. He said most of the rifle purchases were on credit cards and most of the people buying them won't be able to find ammo or mags to actually fire them if they had too.

If you are running a balance on a credit card, and you have that sort of thing in your "collection" you need to take care of that situation immediately.

Does that balance on your credit card exist BECAUSE you bought those things?

Sounds like your wife is a smart lady. Keep that one friend.

I saw that, based on those I'll be a rich soon. LOL I'm keeping what I have and all this makes me even happier I ordered a S&W optics ready AR and an AMD-65 ak from Buds (at good prices) the night of the election. One of my smarter moves......... LOL

I'd absolutely sell now.

Likely, there's no significant change coming.

Worse case, they'll get an AWB on the books at some point in the next few months, during which supplies will catch up and you can replace what you sold and have a tidy profit.

I wouldn't sell of eeeverything, just the extras. Do it quick before the panic subsides.

300% market price? Does that mean I can sell my Mk12 SPR for $18,000 and buy a new car?
Nope, it may be 300% msrp, but market price just changed. That's what happens when demand spikes on what is effectively a fixed supply (the guns in stock at this moment).

At least the manufacturers aren't raising prices. I just placed an order through my LGS for a RRA LAR8 and the price was the same as before Newtown.

That's actually a very good question and I bet it largely depends on the rollmark on the lower. It's hard to explain to the novice why all the upscale parts are important but people may know some name brands and pay more for that stamped on the lower. Saying it's a custom-built Bushmaster probably carries more weight than it's a custom-built Joe's Hardware, even if the latter has better components.

I have three AR builds of similar quality but I bet the ones that started with S&W and ArmaLite stripped lowers would go for more than the one with a Valkyrie lower. (Valkyrie? Who's Valkyrie!) I paid about $20 more for the ArmaLite and $30 more for the S&W but am almost certain those rollmarks would return much, much more than that small investment now.

And even a BCM upper with BCM lower, well many noobs would pay more for a Bushmaster today! It's all in a name.

So, would it be smartest to sell my dpms and half my mags(4) now, reap great profits and then repurchase once either the crazies die down or heaven forbid a ban goes through? IF a ban goes through, will prices on a low end AR still be in the $600-700 range? will it even be possible to purchase an ar that accepts standard mags? Im assuming if AR's are still available, they will come with 10 round mags, muzzle brakes, pinned stock and maybe a pistol grip?

Im so torn between taking advantage of the crazies to fund a nice new tv and a nice 1911 and keeping what I have in case a really strict ban does somehow go through...

Meh... I just checked armslist and people have nicer dpms ar's than I have with a good chunk of ammo, multiple mags etc etc for only 1,300... I'll just have to wait until people really start getting rustled...

I'm not sure it's all in a name with the current crop of shoppers. I think many of them are out to grab ANY AR-15 they can find. Most, I suspect, wouldn't know the difference between a Plum Crazy or Daniel Defense or Colt or Black Rain.

Risk and Reward my friend. Greed vs Fear. Try to take the emotion out of it and do a Pro Forma projecting what you will net from the sale of your existing gear. Then try to weigh that against the probability of what will happen if AR's are banned, restricted or everything in between.

Don't have a crystal ball? Oh well, then it is a blind roll of the dice. Do you feel lucky? Well do ya? :D

I already 'feel' the craze is starting to wane a bit. In the next 1-3 days, folks holding 223 stuff will decide its time to get in the game and the market will start seeing an influx.

The time to sell is only gonna last another couple of days...maybe a week.
