Building a 1911?

Ok I have been thinking about building a standard G.I. 1911 from parts. I think it would be fun and teach me alot about the 1911. Are there any websites you people recomend for helping me do this . Also when i'm building it what steps NEED to be done by a gunsmith cause I am not going to lie I have no experience in gunsmithing.

Buy a Springfield GI. Then, dissasemble and reassemble 100 times. It will be cheaper.
