Does anyone have experience or information on building a 358 Win? I know that they are based upon a 308 catridge necked up to a 35 and have read a fair amount about the pros and cons of the caliber. If one were setting out to build a rifle of this caliber, what actions, barrels, and stocks have been used?

I have one built on an 03' Springfield action and it is one of my favorite rifles. I really love the cartridge for hunting and just plinking. Ill try to post some pics for ya tonight. If i where to build one i would consider using a CZ action. The only problem i have with mine is that its a short cartidge built on a long action, you can get a CZ in a short action. You might also be able to find an old Pre-64' action that needs a chance at new life and thats what i would look for first. And if you really want to buid it on a military action im sure there are some short action mausers out there, i just dont have a clue which ones to look for. Good luck and keep us posted.

I have a Win Model 70 Compact classic in 7mm-08, and it would be great for a 358win. I would like to have one in 358win and 22-250, that would make a great set for just about every occasion in the main 48.
