can somebody tell me how to build an ak receiver from a dummy blank? and tell me the materials assuming i already had access to all the tools. i know i'll have to have the blank, blueprints to glue on to the blank, bolt carrier, and im pretty lost after that. i mean alot of people act like it's only about 3 parts to the reciever, but theres alot more. like for instance the safe/fire switch, that doesn't come in the ak kit, so where does this come in at? also would you be harrassed by the atf, when they noticed you ordering the parts? i know it's legal, but there would be a high probability of someone making a full auto version, and that would probably interest them. but could somebody give me the links to parts i would need? and give me steps as to how to build it. it would be a huge help. and also tell me what i would have to do to assemble it in 3 shot burst, instead of full auto, or semi mode? thanks alot.

It is legal to build a reciever--but you can never transfer it. It must also be 922r compliant (just pretend the bill of rights means nothing--you have to obey these other laws instead).

Another option is to purchase a receiver (an ffl item).

Most parts kits come with everything except the receiver--but not enough compliance parts.

Anyhow, that site has a bunch of home builders. I'm just getting into it myself and have just recieved my first "flats" this weekend. Two AMD-65 kits are inbound. I spend the $60 on the American Gunsmith Institute "Building the AK" DVD. (Check out Shotgun News--they sell that paper at WalMart here).

That should be a good start--have fun and stay legal. When in doubt, check, double check and triple check. A mistake can cost you the right to ever own a gun again. (Oh, and if you're not legal to own a firearm and try this, bad things will happen.)

(Oh yeah, no 3 shot or full-auto--SEMI only or even worse trouble. Think "prison".)
