I decided to pick up a PSA 10 lower recently because the price was right. I want to build a long range precision rifle. I also picked up one of their uppers and parts kits for both parts. I plan on picking up one of their bolt carrier groups as well. I did some reading and I think I have all the parts that have had compatibility issues worked out.

This is my first AR 10 build. I know that there are compatibility issues with AR 10 platforms. While there is lots of information about DPMS pattern rifles and it seems PSA's have some similarities with parts. I plan on using a Criterion barrel M110 profile 20" match barrel and a Midwest Industries DPMS GII rifle key mod one piece free float tube. I want a JP adjustable gas block too. I have a Geissele AR 15 Hi-Speed National Match - Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) Trigger I have sitting around I want to use.

Questions-

Can I use the Geissele with my lower?

Will the barrel and free float tube I want to use interface with the PSA upper using DPMS designed parts?

Advice from fellow builders who SPECIFICALLY use PSA 10 parts?

Thank you in advance.

They seem to have worked out the kinks with the Geissele trigger as PSA in now offering LPK with Geissele triggers. If yours has problems Geissele has instructions to fix the problem. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhrBORnfK84)

Barrels should not be a problem, but I would suggest having the headspace checked if the barrel and bolt are not from the same source. Either AR10 or DPMS barrels fit, you just have to get the right length gas tube.

Upper parts - the forward assist is different (slightly longer) as is the ejection port hinge pin (slightly shorter), PSA bolt carriers are cut for a rear mounted FA. Carriers cut for uppers with mid mounted FAs will fit, but the FA will not work.

Any free float tube that works with a DPMS low receiver, will work.

Mine when together without a hitch, and seems to work just fine. Although, I used an Armalite two-stage 7.62mm hammer/trigger assy, they are cheaper, but just as nice as the G2S I have.

.308 AR and AR-15 use the same fire control parts. I've heard of a couple aftermarket units having issues, but I can't imagine what.

You might give serious though to the Hyperfire 24-3G. Geisseles are nice, and I'm a big Timney fan, but IMO, the Hyperfire puts the rest to shame. It comes with springs for 2, 3 or 4 lbs, and boasts higher striking force as well. I ran the 2 lb springs, and it is an honest 2.05 lbs on my scale, with no creep, a clean brake and a short reset.

Should.

I Next finished my PSA10

Vortex scope, rainier match grade 20" barrel, JLBILLET 15" handguard. I will eventually upgrade from the factory trigger.
