Thanks for the excellent write up!

I would like to do that someday. I was fortunate to be to go to the north store a few years ago to pick out a gun. I have liked the CMP ever since. Great place to buy ammo too.

Here is a cite from CalGuns with a write-up and photos from one of the 2014 classes. I didn't bring a camera to mine.

I saw this in a thread here a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned it to John McLean, the mgr of the Custom Shop and he noted that the web personnel for CMP was trying to make arrangements for this to be linked. I think it's a great job by the OP here.

Hope y'all enjoy it.

Cheers,

Harry

Congrats Harry.
I'm sure a great and unforgetable experience, that's worth more than you paid.
Thanks, for your write up. I've enjoyed following the link as well.

Ps.: Garand is pendent subject at my house, nowadays

Kinda of a different spin on the been there... done that. You got more than a lousy t-shirt.

That is actually something I would like to do sometime.

I got a t-shirt as well. They do give you a nice one, CMP AMC logo on the front, exploded parts diagram of the M1 on the back.

:D

Thanks, Ron. Stay tuned for pics...I just got it delivered by FedEx. I'll be range testing it tomorrow or Friday with both HXP and some Hornady Match ammo with 168r A-MAXs. I may have to bring one of its stablemates from the post-war era to compare.

Cheers,

Harry

So I had the chance to talk with my son this evening. He has never been a shooter nor particularly liked guns but agreed that he would take my newest M1 as a keepsake representing my key interests and hobbies. We will be going out to one of my shooting clubs out in the Eastern plains of CO and I'll be teaching him how to use it. I think he'll get to enjoy it when there are not a lot of folks making noise and acting crazy around him.

I'm pretty pumped that one of my nephews won't get this bad boy...my son will keep it for me and remember me by it. I hope he is able to pass it down to his son or daughter when they make their arrival. A personal treasure should stay in the family.

Harry, happily
