A question for the AR 223 shooters.

I have a good & accurate load of 25 gr Varget under a 55gr FB bullet. Very happy with the groups & chamber/action staying clean.

My problem is I just bought a couple of thousand Remington (bulk) 223/55gr (Wally World equivalent) for a very good price. Needless to say I had to change my Scope & Reflex sight setting to hit correctly at 100/200 yards.

So my question is: has anybody worked up a 223/55gr load that hits close to or has about the same ballistics as the bulk 223/55gr stuff? I would prefer to stay with Varget or 4895 as I have boat load of each.

IME almost every gun wil shoot slightly different. Even exact handloads on different guns, or factory ammo in diff guns.

Maybe try to match the FPS with a Chronograph and go from there.

The bulk loads will not have Varget in them. I'm not familiar with 4895.

I'd suggest H335 or .mil pulldown WC844 (to save money) to match the common bulk rounds.

This may be oversimplified, but wouldn't the same projectile (or very similar) and the same velocity result in the same zero at any given distance?

1) match the bullets from the bulk rounds
2) chrono the surplus (do several and take average or 90th percentile)
3) work up loads using powder of choice until you match the velocity from #2
