I have ordered from Hornet Products a couple times and have been satisfied with their service. Head over there and pick up a Green Mountain barrel - you could spend a bunch of time reading at Rimfire Central, but in the end you'll most likely end up with a GM barrel anyway.

I second Hornet + Rimfire Central

I got a Green Mtn barrel from Hornet for Christmas and will buy from them again. The barrel swap out took me less than a day including some stock work. My new 1022 shoots fine and has been reliable.

No question. If you are looking for a bargain, Green Mountain.

If you are willing to pay top buck, Shilen or Lilja.

I would recommend a Carbon Fiber Tensioned barrel. Ultra rigid, Light and looks cool. Makle sure not to buy a cheap plastic one, but Carbon Fiber.

midwayusa.com has a great sale this month on an Adams & Bennett barrel with a free Fajen stock for 84.99 +shipping

got a 1022 barrel &stock set from midway several years ago... my barrel says midway on it but i've been told green mountain made em then... it looks just like the fluted barrels on g m site..... i love that barrel! it put 3 shots into the same .22 cal hole at about 40 yards the first time i shot it off a sand bag...... been shooting one hole groups at 40-50 yards ever since and that's with the bulk boxed 36gr federal ammo from wal-mart........

Changing the barrel on a 10/22 is easy. You'll need a screwdriver to get the stock off, and a 5/32" hex wrench to remove the screws that secure the barrel. Once you get the rifle out of the stock it should be pretty clear what you need to do to remove the barrel.

matt is right ... once you get your barreled action out of the stock just take those two screws that hold the v-block and pull the barrel out of the action... then reverse the order with the new barrel and tighten down the screws with a wrench..... there is a proper torque to set em at but i don't know what it is..... someone at rimfirecentral will!!

just make sure you have the safety half way between off and on before trying to remove it from the stock... otherwise it hangs on the edge of the stock in a full off or full on position...

Just installed a 20" GM fluted sporter on my DSP.... been too cold to get out and do much in the way of shootin but it looks cool and the consensus is pretty much that GM rocks when it comes to 10/22 barrels... hornet products and shooters discount are by far the most economical place for GM and some other barrels...

I put the Hogue overmolded stock and Clerke barrel combo on a extra 10/22 receiver I had. For $109.00 for both, I thought I got a fair deal. With a Nikon scope, this is now my go to squirrel gun.
