I’ve always had a grudging fondness for the old big bore British Bulldog snubbies. So ugly their cute. Same goes for the short barreled Royal Irish Constabularies and Webley’s Metropolitan Police Models. With winter coming on an no project to occupy my time, I’ve thought about taking a birds head grip Vaquero and removing the ejector rod and cutting down the barrel to a shorter length in an attempt to obtain a reasonable facsimile. Any other ideas about other guns that may lend itself to my fancy with a little work ?

Many thanks in advance.

I've long wished some company would make a .44 Special modern DA bulldog style break-top. Single actions will work well enough though.

I love the British Bulldogs too, and I've also considered trying to create my own homage to them, but in a more available caliber than .450 Adams or .455 Webley :D .

The best platform I've found that would evoke the style & form of the Bulldogs, while still being practical to carry is the Colt 1917 chambered in .45 ACP.

Here are some examples of 1917 Colts that have been cut down to Bulldog form.

That Colt looks like a giant Detective Special. I like it.
