What are you paying for reloading bullets now. Buying some thru Cabela's, paying 22cents a round for Remington brass plated 230 gr. and as low as 16 cents for Rainier copper plated 230 gr. Hard to find any locally here in Southeastern N.C. . When you do you pay a quarter a round or more. Just wondering.

Never for me. Even for premium HP bullets like Remington Golden Saber, Speer Gold Dots and Berry's new HP bullets, I paid around $0.18 - $0.20 per round.

Right now for various plated bullets, you can get them shipped to your door for around $0.09 - $0.15 per round depending on the caliber (9mm - 45ACP). For jacketed bullets around $0.10 - $0.20 per round.

The key is ordering in bulk (500-1000+) and from the right manufactures/vendors such as Berry's MFG, Midsouth Shooters, Montana Gold Bullets, Natchez, Powder Valley, Precision Delta, Rocky Mountain Reloading, TJ Conevera, X-Treme Bullets, etc. offer lower prices and/or free shipping.

You can find them in this thread - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=707473&page=54

I have had very good results with the plated bullets in 9,40 & 45 from various manufacturers. I really like the much lower price!

NEVER, I'm too cheap for that! I load mostly lead bullets in handgun ammo. For my M1 Garand I use surplus 150gr bullets and for hunting rifle ammo I will pay a little more but even there I buy on sale. I have paid $.25 for premium hunting bullets but a box of 100 lasts a good long time.

Unless you shoot a lot and have access to cheap or free lead, it is very difficult to justify investing into bullet molds, casting pots, luber / sizers, etc. I have all the stuff, but have found my time is more valuable. So until they try to cut off my access to bullets, I will continue to buy mine.

you can get lead for free if you look, a bottom pour pot for $50 and a six banger mold and handles for $50. tumble lube with a $3 bottle of alox and you are set. I turned a $20 bucket of weights into 3200 230gr cast 45 bullets averaging 600 bullets an hour. you certainly save a good chunk of change, its a whole new set of fun things to add to the bench. plus it really pays off when bullet mfgs are 2-4 months behind on orders during panic mode.
