bullet proof window film?

The side windows of a car are made out of safety glass so it will shatter in an accident provided you a way to get out of the car if the doors are jammed. This film seems to be a very bad idea in that respect.

Bullet resistant glass is great if you expect to be in high risk situations where being shot at is likely.

For most people they have a greater risk of being in a motor accident than being shot at.

In an accident bullet resistant glass is actualy worse. It is like surrounding yourself with brick walls. Even with a seatbelt on your head can hit the side window, and if it is designed to resist impact from bullets then it is not going to give before your skull does.
What could have resulted in broken glass and you requiring stitches instead results in a crushed skull or broken neck.

As spyder also notes open windows are one of the few places you can escape a vehicle after a major accident, especialy rollovers. The doors will be sealed shut from the deformed metal in most situations.
Imagine sitting there in your vehicle, complete with your bullet proof glass unable to get out as a fire starts to burn.

People also drowned in 2 feet of water when thier vehicle overturns in a ditch or mud. The doors won't open, and your only avenue of escape is a window.

So for most people windows that will break are far better than windows that will resist pistol rounds. Regular windows are actualy more likely to save your life.

Remember that if you reinforce your car windows rescue will have a harder time reaching you in the event of an emergency situation.
