Anyone have experience with the bullet pullers that screw into a single stage press? I believe Hornady sells one. Easier to use than the kinetic type, worth buying, etc?
This would be for pistol calibers, 45 (big surprise), in particular.

Thanks

I have the RCBS version; basically it's a die body with outside threads that screw into the press and then you buy collets specific to the caliber to be pulled. I thinks they are super good choice when having to pull more than 5 bullets at a sitting (or standing; your mileage may vary). They work great but some will do a little damage or leave marks on the bullets. Not recommended for lead bullets IF you want to reuse the bullets. these will distort lead. I pulled about 150 .223 bullets with mine and was able to reuse them. Since .45ACP is not held by a roll crimp, the puller should do minimal damage to a jacketed bullet.

The collet are a better choice if you are taking apart a lot of rounds at one time....and they are jacketed......I don't think they will grip most lead bullets well enough to pull them out. Otherwise the kinetic type are good.

If I only have a few rounds to pull down I break out the Midway kinetic puller.

If I have more than a few I set up the Hornady Cam lock collet puller. It only takes a few seconds per round (put round in shellholder on press, ram up, locking lever down, ram down, remove case, locking lever up and catch bullet in hand as it drops out) and when adjusted carefully you can hardly even see that the bullet has been pulled the only marks will be from the case neck. The only disadvantage is that you have to have so many collets if you load a lot of different calibers.

I've got a kinetic puller and it works fine and is reasonably quick. No marks at all on the bullet. Many folks use a standard shell holder in lieu of the supplied collets to cut down on the aggravation factor. Stick a foam earplug in it beforehand to protect the bullets nose.
