Bullet pulling

Now my curiosity is up and I've gotta try something.

Way back in the dark ages, before twisted-pair copper cabling, we used something called BNC connectors - dia%2Fcommons%2Fthumb%2Fb%2Fb9%2FBNC_connector_50_ohm_male.jpg%2F320px-BNC_connector_50_ohm_male.jpg

Now, some of y'all out there might recognize this as "TV cable" but, it's not. A BNC connector is a twist-lock for coaxial insulated cabling and they required a special tool to crimp each end - 31Cm6DfrQEL._AC_UL320_.jpg

Y'all will notice the three hole sizes. Well, they're for the two different cable types used with coax: RG6 and RG59.
Now, I'm thinking this might be a good $15-$20 bullet puller using that press method. I'll let you know. :)

I’m going to make one! I’ll call it a Thor Bullet Hammer! Probably could pull 25-50 at a time
Nice! Got anything figured out about where the powder is going to go? The OP said his friend wants to pull the bullets from 5000 .41 Mag rounds because 1500 of those rounds might not have any powder in them. That means 3500 of those rounds probably do have powder in them. It seems like your "Thor Bullet Hammer" (if it works) might leave approximately 35,000 grs of .41 Magnum gunpowder scattered around all over the place.;)

dump everything in a bucket, load 50 more, dump in a bucket, sort out later

Well it is an ad for his product.;) My kinetic is homemade out of cast iron gas pipe.....and hitting it on a flexible wood top is dumb. You need a solid hit with kinetics....concrete floor is best....but not close to an edge....ask me how I know that.....nevermind, don't ask..... The perfect strike would be on a full size blacksmith anvil....but everybody has concrete. The slowest part is unscrewing the head to dump the powder... Still with that many bullets, you may break a kinetic.

Still I like the the guys tool for uncrimped rifle, but the trick is to make a stop for the press handle so the case is raised just right and the tool is placed against the press to make things go faster....but this is crimped pistol....never tried one with that.

I actually use a piece of thick cardboard on top of concrete. My hammer kenetic pullers seem to last a lot longer that way and it makes a nice pop when I know I've hit it just right.

Still yet, I too use a RCBS Collet bullet puller but sheeeeeeesssshhhhhh .... even 1500 is a lot of bullet pulling.

I've always wondered how the big mass batches are pulled ... you know, the demilled surplus milspec bullets. I asked Jamine that one time and he didn't know how they did it. That's when I was buying surplus powder and pulled bullets from him out of this little metal building he had at his house ... twenty plus years ago. Those were some great deals.

These days his company has grown .... Palmetto State Armory.

I use an old 4" thick x 18" round butcher's block on an old wooden bar stool. Works good enough. Two whacks for cast, three for jacketed. Typically. Radway Green '68 - all bets are off. That stuff's glued together!

I have the Forster collet puller. The trick is to set it up properly. Put an empty case in the press and raise the ram to the top. Before you put the die in the press, tighten the collet so the brass case can't go in it. Screw the die down until it touches the case. Back the die out about an eight to a quarter turn. Lock the die in place. Open the collet up and begin. The bottom of the collet is now set to just barely above the case mouth. This gives you the maximum amount of grab on the bullet. It still may not work with lead bullets. For lead, I sometimes wack them a couple of times with the kinetic puller to move the bullet out some, but not all the way. I then complete it with the collet. It saves a lot of mess.

Please don't ask why I know so much about pulling bullets!

What I want to see, is the fully automatic repeating one Jmorris built.....surely he's got to have such a thing figured out and built. If not, it's gotta be coming soon....If anyone could make one in a machine shop, it'd be him. Of course Jmorris may not need one.

My little kinetic began after seeing a version in a 40 year-old Handloader Mag. I've shown this before....I improved it a bit....and there's still room for improvement still, but it's cheap. Many years ago I cracked the bottom nipple (may have been a bad cast)....but since the parts are easily replaced at a plumbing supply who cares..... Ugly, but it works...

The first version was made long before RCBS made their plastic one.....maybe they saw the same magazine. Hey maybe instead of a tee I could get a four way cross, and have 3 heads....:) This version is maybe 30 years old and no kabooms.
