I reload .22TCM and have thus far been able to locate the armscor 22c 40gr jacketed soft point bullet used in factory ammunition—until COVID.

I’ve been looking for 2yrs but no luck and I’m almost out.

Does anyone have a recommended alternative bullet that would be a good substitute? I’ve been looking at 22 Hornet projectiles and I think something between 35-40gr would work but the limiting factor is bullet length vs magazine space. The armscor 22c is pretty much the maximum length that will fit in the mag with reliable feeding. Hornady’s vmax bullets have that red polymer tip that is problematic for this use.
Sure would like a good Sierra or other soft point, but it needs to be short and fat in profile.

I’m stuck.

I'm not any help unless you would want a couple 35 grain vmax to test for length.
What you're running into is the reason I backed away from buying a 22 tcm.

I’m going to try and source some 35gr v-max bullets. I’ll be in touch if I am unsuccessful. I appreciate your kind offer.

I have most of a box from when I was playing with blue dot and a slow twist 223.

Ordered 200 to try out, direct from Speer. Pricing is way better than the .22Tcm seconds I found at Midway (30% more expensive—for seconds!). Reviews are promising with several loaders using them in TCM ammo with great results.

@Mark_Mark set me up with his surplus TCM bullets, but no more have been seen for sale anywhere in years.

Speer makes these for .22Hornet and they are a regular catalog item, available off and on as production varies. Right now, they are available on the Speer site with good pricing, though I did not find them in stock anywhere else.
